he's a little kooky, that one.

"HOW DO YOU LOSE A PRINCESS?"

That was the exact question Jeon Jeongguk found himself asking. In contrast to most of the other kingdoms, the kingdom of Ekora was mainly governed by Princess Soyeon, who was a good diplomat with quick reflexes and an even quicker mind. Ever since the queen passed away, the king had never been the same. He'd become more distant, a shell of his former glory. He'd simply stopped caring, both about his kingdom, about his older daughter and younger son.

But why did Jeongguk care? What relation did he, a mere young man barely over twenty summers with a stutter that wouldn't stop, have with cool, confident, compassionate Princess Soyeon?

Soyeon was his sister.

That made Jeongguk the prince.

For so many years, Soyeon had been there, for her family and her people. They'd had peace for so long. But now, she was gone? Soyeon had stood beside Jeongguk for his entire life. His older sister had shielded him from prying eyes of the paparazzi and the jeering words of those who didn't believe in him, those who called him 'The Stuttering Prince' and refused to see him as anything else. The princess had been the only constant in Jeongguk's ever-changing life. But now, she was... gone?

"Jimin-hyung," he begged his friend, staring at him despairingly, "t-t-tell me it's not t-t-true."

Like Soyeon, Park Jimin was a constant in Jeongguk's life: Jimin had been adopted years ago by one of the castle lords, and ever since then, they'd spent every waking moment with each other. Two peas in a pod, Jimin's foster sister Park Chaeyoung had called them.

Jimin sighed, looking away. "I'm sorry, Jeongguk-ssi."

Jeongguk should've known. Jimin never lied.

The prince could feel his eyes start to water, filling with tears of shame and frustration. Why? Why did it have to be Soyeon? "G-Gods, Jimin-hyung, it-it-it should've been me-"

He felt soft fingers brush the tears away.

"Hey," Jimin murmured, staring up at Jeongguk with those small, doe-like eyes of his, "don't say that."

Jeongguk sniffled. "B-But it's true." Another tear rolled down his face, and he hastily wiped it away, almost smacking the Jimin in the face. He was a knight, and a very good one, but he was still very short. "Isn't it?" His voice was smaller than he'd intended.

Jimin shook his head, pursing his pouty lips. "Jeongguk-ah, don't ever say that. That's not true."

Jeongguk hiccuped, still sniffling. Jimin wrapped his arms around his taller friend, fitting perfectly into the prince's arms. Jimin was really nice to hug. "Please don't cry, Jeongguk-ssi. I hate it when you cry."

The prince laughed a little at hearing his friend's slightly muffled voice, letting the comforting smell of mochi waft up his nose. He wasn't sure why Jimin always smelled like mochi, but it was nice, and Jeongguk was used to the smell.
