JIMIN HAD TO ADMIT, THERE WAS A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO WANTED MONEY.
He sat beside Jeongguk, who was slouched over his too-brightly lit desk, several empty cartons of banana milk scattered all over the place. The sheer effort of counting the number of men and women who had applied to help him with the quest to find his sister was exhausting. Either they genuinely cared about Princess Soyeon, either they just wanted the money they'd get for helping. Jimin was betting on the latter, but the former was possible- Soyeon was pretty popular, being the first reigning princess and all.
After the whole V fiasco in the forest, Jeongguk had made the decision to bring the two criminals and the warlock back to the castle. Bringing V along was a stupid-ass decision, but since Jeongguk was the prince, Jimin couldn't exactly just ignore it.
The former assassin got on his nerves. Maybe it was the smirk?
(Or maybe it was the way he flirted with Jeongguk.)
The street thief and archer, on the other hand, was out like a light, and much to Yoongi's apparent dismay, he'd been tasked with looking after him until morning. If Seokjin had been there, Jimin had no doubt that he would've made a joke about J-HOPE being a HOPEless case.
(Clearly, Jimin had spent too much time with Seokjin. Or rather, Jeongguk had.)
Jeongguk still hadn't told the king about the princess's disappearance; after losing the love of his life in childbirth, the prince didn't think his father would be able to cope with losing his only daughter too. So he and Jimin sat in Jeongguk's massive bedroom, sorting out the issue (or at least how to begin approaching it) by themselves. It wasn't too bad. Jeongguk was his best friend, after all. They'd been through so much teenage sh*t together, surely they could get through this together too.
"Jiminie-hyung," the prince whined petulantly, "help meeee."
Jeongguk's math had never been good. Sure, Seokjin tutored him in, well, pretty much everything he needed to pass as a good prince, but there was only so much one man could do. Jeongguk had always hated math anyway. At least the prince's stuttering problem was a lot better now than it was when they were kids- that he had Seokjin to thank for.
Jimin sighed. He was a knight, and Jeongguk was a young prince who honestly shouldn't be subjected to this kind of job yet. When they became friends, neither of them signed up for this. But friends didn't ditch each other, not when one was a prince with a missing sister and the other was a knight who was outcasted by the other knights for being too close to the prince for their comfort. They were dicks, all of them. Jimin's squire Taehyun was the only good one in the lot.
Unfortunately for them, Jeongguk's father's advisor Bang Si-Hyuk was on vacation and couldn't help. He usually managed political affairs with Soyeon, but now that both of the pros were gone, it was up to the rookies. Hooray. "What do you need help, Jeongguk-ah?"
