"It's hard to imagine Arima not making the cut."
Remember how I told you that I have these dreams where it's like she's here playing her violin with me? Well, those dreams were getting more and more percussive, persistent. Repetitive.
To the point they were becoming more daydreams, often. I loved them, but it also made me wonder whether or not I was insane. And maybe I was. And maybe that was fine.
It had been a week or so since she had broken that window from her backyard, when suddenly I got a call from Tsubaki.
"Hello?" I picked up.
"KOUUUSSSEEIIII!!!!!" She screamed into the phone, nearly killing my eardrums.
"All right, all right! Calm down! Are you gonna keep screaming bloody murder or are you gonna tell me what's happening?"
"You won't believe it!" She responded excitedly. "Kousei- I'm going to Europe! WHOOHOOOOOO!!!!"
"That's- awesome, Tsubaki!" I said. "All right, come on! Details, details!"
"Ok so I was at my game yesterday, and home run Tsubaki did it again!" She replied with pride in her voice. "I hit so many, that this super famous softball coach came to our game, and she wants me to come join her team! Isn't that amazing? I get to travel all over the world!!!"
"That's really cool Tsubaki!" I said.
"It's fine that you get to come back for breaks, but it will be awesome that I can come visit you at your fancy-shmancy music school since spring break is ending soon," She explained.
I had gotten into that "fancy-shmancy" music school that I wanted to get into. But the only reason I had been home for a while was because it was spring break. At least I was at home to fix the window! But after that I'd go back to the apartment I was renting near the school till summer.
"What about Watari? Have you heard anything from him about his soccer team?" I asked.
"Not a whole lot," Tsubaki answered. "But I think the tournament starts today. We'll have to call him and see how the team is doing."
"Ah, ok. But I'm sure they're undefeated as always!"
"Haha, probably!" She laughed. "I gotta run, I'll talk to you later, Kousei!"
"Okay, Tsubaki. Bye!"
"Bye!"
Well.
What now?
My friends were both running off for their sports careers, and what was I doing? Daydreaming and playing at the same old Towa Hall. The teachers told me that I would really start going places after I graduated, which is good but hard to wait for.
Someone had finally helped me find the joy in playing piano again, and what was I doing with it?
April is over.
It went too fast.
