It was a quiet morning on the Castle of Lions. Pidge was in her room decoding and running diagnostics thinking no one else was up until she heard Lance in his room down the hall yelling at his game. "He died again." She thought as she rolled her eyes then glanced at the clock realizing it was nine o'clock. "I better go and see if everyone else is up." She thought as she closed her laptop getting up. Pidge walked out of her room to find Hunk walking down the hallway to her left. No doubt going to help Coran with breakfast so he didn't poison them by accident. And to her right Shiro walked out of his room. "Morning, Pidge." Shiro said. "Morning?" Pidge replied. "Sleep well?" He asked. "Yeah." Pidge answered as they started walking down the hallway together. "Are you ready for today's mission?" Shiro asked. "As I'll ever be." Pidge answered. "You'll be fine." Shiro said. "I'm going to go relax in the lounge. Keith's on the training deck if you want to talk." He said as he started down a different hallway. "Thanks!" Pidge called after him as she headed toward the training deck. When she got closer to the training deck there was no doubt Keith was in there, since the clanging of weapons echoed halfway down the hall. She opened the door to find six robots active. "What is he doing" she thought. Keith had three robots surrounding him while three more were on their way. He sliced the first one in half with his bayard, sidestepping and parrying the second ones blow, then ducking as the third one swiped at him. "Morning, Pidge." Keith said as he spun around and drove his bayard into the second ones chest. "Morning." Pidge answered. "Are you busy?" "No, should I be?" Keith said as he ducked the third ones blade kicking it back. "No, but can we talk?" Pidge asked. "Yeah." Keith answered as he lowered his bayard. "End training sequence!" The last three disappeared but not the third one as the eye turned red and it started charging at him. "Not this again." Keith growled as Pidge activated her own bayard and stood beside him. Pidge shot her grappling hook at the robots chest but it wrapped it around it's sword. "Oh no." She said right before she was yanked off her feet. Keith lunged forward aiming to cut off its leg but it roundhouse kicked him in the chest, sending him flying. Keith landed hard, flipping backward he shook his head and got up just to get knocked back down since it threw Pidge into him. "Tell me you have an idea. Because this isn't working." Keith groaned as they climbed to their feet. "Yeah, go high." Pidge answered as Keith charged at the robot, jumping off the wall. The robot parried his blow with one arm and used the other the grab his foot slamming him against the floor. Pidge took that split second and shot her grappling hook into its chest electricuting it as Keith rolled out of the way and sliced off its head. "Does it always do that?" Pidge asked the robot and their bayards disappeared. "Not all the time. Here and there every once in a while." Keith answered as Pidge sat down. "You wanted to talk." He said sitting down as well. "Yeah, about our mission." Pidge answered. "What about it?" Keith asked as he laid on his back. "Its just it's not going to take very long and I found someone in the area who might know about my family. And I'd really like to talk to them. " Pidge explained nervously messing with the green v that hung on a necklace that allowed her to earthbend. "So you want me to tag along?" Keith asked. "No, you don't have to. I can go alone." Pidge said. "Over my charred dead body!" Keith growled sitting up. "So, you're going to stop me!?" Pidge asked getting a little angry. "No, I'm not going to stop you. But you sure as hell aren't going alone." Keith answered. "Oh." Pidge said a little taken aback. Honestly she thought Keith would be the one to drag her back, not go with her. Suddenly they both froze briefly. "Breakfasts ready!" Hunk said through the mental link that all the paladins had since they first formed Voltron. "Are you going to tell Shiro?" Pidge asked as Keith stood up. "No." He answered helping her up. "So we're going behind his back?" Pidge asked disbelivingly. "Yes, you don't want him to try to stop you, do you?" Keith answered as they started walking toward the door. "Race you there!" Pidge yelled suddenly punching him playfully in the arm and taking off. "You're going to win anyway! Because I'm not racing you!" Keith yelled after her. He shook his head and continued toward the dinning room.
When he arrived everyone else was already there. "Are you hungary this morning, Pidge?" Allura asked as Keith walked over to the counter where Shiro was to grab his plate. "You know, I've been thinking about pranking someone." Keith said. "Oh, are you going to start a prank war again?" Shiro said. "Hey you have to admit the ones I pulled were pretty good." Keith said. "Yeah, but the ones I pulled to get back at you were even better." Shiro said as Keith glared at him. "What?" He said as Keith grabbed his plate. "I guess we'll just have to see after this mission." Keith said as he went to go sit down. "A little. Why?" Pidge said as Keith sat in between her and Lance. "Because I saw you run into Lance this morning." Allura explained as Coran took a bite of his food. "Well, isn't that werid way to say good morning." Hunk said before taking a bite of his food. "Yeah, she scared the shit out of me." Lance said as he took a bite and Coran nearly spit out his drink. "To be honest Lance, that's not hard to do." Keith interjected. "Shut up, Mullet." Lance snapped as Keith looked over his shoulder to find Shiro. Shiro motioned for him and the others to be quiet and then pointed to Lance. Keith nodded slightly and turned back around. "So Lance, how do you feel about jumpscares?" He asked. "What?" Lance mumbled since his mouth was full of food. Shiro waited for him to swallow before yelling and tipping his chair back. "OH SHIT!" Lance screamed as everyone else started laughing. "Are you okay, Lance?" Shiro asked as he sat down by Hunk. Lance had his hands over his eyes and just whimpered in response, making them laugh harder. "Why Space Dad? Why?" Lance asked as Shiro shrugged. "To prepare you for when Keith leads." Shiro's said as Hunk and Coran spit out their drinks. "You fucking asshole!" Keith yelled as everyone started laughing. "You know I'm joking. Or am I?" Shiro said. "Alright, enough with the mind games, old timer." Keith said throwing food goo at Shiro hitting him square in the forehead. "Wow, Keith. So mature." Shiro said. "You started it." Keith said shrugging as the others continued to laugh.
The rest of breakfast was a casual conversation since Hunk nearly swallowed his fork. Afterward the paladins helped put away the dishes then headed to their rooms to get into their armor. Pidge pulled on her gloves as she made sure she had everything she needed to hack. Once she was sure she had everything she walked out of her room to find Keith farther down the hallway. So she ran to catch up. "You ready?" Keith asked without even looking at her. "As I'll ever be." She answered. When they got to the helm everyone else was there. "Finally." Lance said as Keith shot him a glare as he stood by Shiro and Pidge stood in between Keith and Lance. Which was kinda of uncomfartable, since Keith radiated heat from his element while Lance was cold. "Alright guys." Shiro said getting everyone's attention. "We've been preparing for this for awhile. But just to refresh everyone's memory. Lance, Hunk, and I are going to hit a few factories with the Blade Of Marmora and while Allura and Coran provide air support. Keith, Pidge. You two are taking out a small remote communications base on Nexus. It's vital to the Empire. Then we'll all rendezvous at a Marmoran outpost on Warfang tomorrow. Be careful out there. If you get shot keep running. If you die walk it off." Shiro said. Keith and Pidge said their goodbyes before heading to there lions with Keith and Red getting out there first hovering in front of the Castle to be joined a moment later by Pidge and Green. "Alright Allura, we're ready." Keith said into the coms and a split second later a wormhole appeared a few hundred feet in front of them. "That wormhole will take you right into Nexus's atmosphere." Allura said. "But be careful, that's a shady part of the galaxy." Coran interjected. "We'll be fine." Pidge assured him. "Try to keep up." Keith said as Red shot through the wormhole followed by the Green lion, it's tail disappearing a split second before the wormhole. So Allura opened a second wormhole and guided the Castle through it. To meet up with the Marmora agents on Sorenda.
