The Red and Green lion shot out of the wormhole into Nexus's atmosphere, both lions firing on the base below, destroying the bases communications satellites. "Why aren't they firing back?" Pidge wondered as they continued to dive, the lions landed heavily, oblierterating the ground under their massive paws. Red swung his head around as he walked, looking for fighters, while Green charged toward the base and crouched down to let her paladin out. "Where are they?" Keith thought as Pidge hopped out of her lion and headed toward the door. The moment she reached it she instantly tried to start hacking but there was no power. "Keith! Did you hit the generator!" Pidge yelled into the coms. "No, why?" Keith asked grimacing. "There's no power. Get down here!" Pidge said. "Okay, okay. I'm coming." Keith said as Red bounded over to Green and crouched down. Once Keith got there he activated his bayard and stuck it in between the two doors and twisted, wedging it open. Together the two paladins forced it the rest of the way open. "Just as I thought. The whole base doesn't have any power." Pidge said as they walked in. "Are you sure you didn't hit the generator?" She said turning on the light on her armor. "No, did you?" Keith asked turning on his own light. The two paladins only got halfway down the first hallway before a horrible stench hit them. "What is that?" Keith hissed wrinkling his nose. "I don't like this." Pidge said hoping they weren't walking into a trap. "Is it just me or does it smell like.." She started. "Like old oil and something decaying." Keith finished. They quit talking for a second to listen. But there was no sound except for the wind howling through the door they forced opened. "Let's keep moving." Keith said as they started walking again. "I don't want to stay in one place for too long." It was really odd usually no matter how small the base, their was always fighters to greet them, it would always be crawling with galra soldiers and sentries.
This one just seemed....abadoned which just put them both on edge. The two paladins rounded a corner to find the floor littered with destroyed sentries and huge claw marks on the walls.
"What the hell happened here?" Keith wondered. "I don't know." Pidge said subdued and then brightening. "But I know how we can find out." She said as she took off in the direction of the center of the base, careful not to step on any sentries as she went, with Keith following her. Every hall they took seemed to have the floor littered with destroyed sentries and huge claw marks on the walls. They came to a four way and Pidge shot straight ahead while Keith stopped because he spotted something out of the corner of his eye. What he saw sent a cold shiver down his spine. "Pidge!" He said telepathically not risking the chance of someone being in there with them. A second later Pidge popped back around the corner as Keith gestured for her to come here. "What?" Pidge whispered as she got closer seeing what he was looking at. It was a huge metal cell with no openings of any sort. The worse part was the huge dents in it and the claw marks that decorated the walls. "Wow." Pidge breathed as they glanced at each other now knowing that they had to get the command center and find out what happened here.
So they headed to the command center to find its doors already ajar and bent as something huge had only managed to get it's arm through. "That's unsettling." Keith muttered as they climbed inside. "Look for some kind of back up generator lever." Pidge said as she headed to the far side of the room to search. Keith glanced around briefly before remembering something. "If this base is anything like the Marmora outposts, then it should be over here." He thought as he walked to the right of the door and saw it in the back corner. Keith reached toward it only to pull back when he saw an arm still grasped on to it. He noticed it wasn't a sentries arm it was like the ones the druids used in their experiments, like Shiro or Sendek's arm. "So there were soldiers here." He thought pulling the lever down, half expecting the arm to launch its self at him and grab him like something out of a horror movie.
"Well someone lost an arm." Keith joked trying to lighten the mood as Pidge shot him an anxious look and headed to the console. Keith watched the hallway through the ajar door with the uneasy feeling of being watched. He'd had it since they found the sentries and claw marks, but it seemed to be getting stronger and with every instinct screaming to get out of there, it just made it worse. "Keith." Pidge said getting his attention. "Come look at this." She added as he glanced at the door before heading over. Pidge had all the cameras up on the screen rewinding them. "Watch this row." She said pointing to the middle row as she played it. It showed the sentries patrolling like normal until this huge, gray blurr shot across the screen, leaving them destroyed in its wake and a second later the camera went offline. It was the same for the others as well.
"Can you slow it down?" Keith asked. "I'm already on it." Pidge answered as she typed away. She was able to pause the blurr in the center of the screen, clear it up as much as she could and zoom in. "That's all I can do. It was moving too fast." She said a little deflated. "You did what you could." Keith said trying to cheer her up. "At least we can tell what it is now." The screen now showed a blurry, huge, muscled, gray, leathery skinned creature, with large claws and fangs but no eyes.
