A child's eyes hold bewilderment and delight, well hers held anger and anguish.

"You know friends buy each other things right?" Rain said. Her eyes scanning the female up and down. "Oh yeah! Right, that's a thing" She said. She had never quite had a friend before but so far this was complicated. She always demanding things of her. Shoes, yoyos, food, jewelry, anything you can name. Amber's mind was conflicted. Her hands rummaged in her mother's purse as if she was looking for a cookie in an empty cookie jar. Pulling out her cookie she giggled. A small ten dollar bill was spread out in her hands. Now stealing was wrong, she knew that. But her friend was dear to her. She didn't want to lose her, then she would be alone. She would be cast away into the dark forbidden hole of loneliness and she would always struggle to get out. She shook her head, no. No, we must obey our friend. She ran to the bus displaying her loot to her friend. Earning a clap or two from her as she swiped the money. Amber's eyes scanned her friend as she watched her place it into her pocket. "Wait?" Amber mumbled. "Hmm? What was that?" Rain said as she looked down upon her. Her eyes shooting glares into her skin. Cowering, she nodded. "Okay," She mumbled. Rain nodded and shunned her off, Amber returned to her seat. Eyes scanning over the wilderness outside. She wasn't what she had expected, mean and crude. She wanted a kind friend that cared for her. "Amber has a big nose," someone shouted out. Their voice echoing throughout the bus causing all eyes to turn towards her. Her head lowered as her hands reached to cover her nose. "Ew she does," Someone else said. "Wow, do you see those glasses? What a nerd," Someone murmured to a friend. Any minute now and her friend would step in, tell them to stop. Any minuted now. Her eyes scanned over the back of the bus where she sat. Nothing. Amber's eyes lowered, "ew she's ugly." "Is that a pimple on her face?" "What's wrong with her?"Laughter rang out as she sucked in the harsh comments. Each one targetting a part of herself she wasn't insecure about yet. When the bus arrived at home she was practically in tears. Stepping out into the lane she squeezed through the crowded seats. Her head lowered and eyes no longer wandering. Why didn't she step in? She reached the front of the bus where the stone-faced driver sat. She looked over at her in seek of help in response the driver yelled. "Off the bus!" pushing her down the stairs. Her knees scraping the ground, the echoed laughing fading as the bus drove away. Entering her home she was met with her mother. Arms crossed and red-faced. Amber lowered her head and attempted to walk past. "Where the hell do you think you are going?" Her mother said as she pulled her back. The fabric of the coat catching at her throat, choking her. "Stealing your mother's money! Who raised you?" Her eyes landed on her mother's feet. Eyes wandering up to her mother's tired, drawn back face. "I'm sorry mama," She mumbled. Her voice catching in her throat. "Sorry!? That's all you got," Her mother screamed dragging her by her ear. "You're going to get the bad girl punishment," She said as she pulled her daughter along by her ear. Amber cried behind her, eyes spilling tears across the floor. Reaching a wooden door her mother grabbed her arms. Unlocking the door and proceeding to through her downstairs. Into the darkness. Amber looked over, eyes conveying her fear. "You are 13 you should know how to act," she heard before her mother closed the door. All light draining from the room. Darkness taking over. Amber's breathing became rigged and she crawled towards the door. Tears poured down her face, "mama no," she screamed. Her hands banging on the door. "Mama please I'm sorry," her head falling to lay against the door. "Please"
