She sat on the bus, head down. Unable to move without causing pain. A friend she trusted dearly, a friend she loved. A friend that didn't love her back. A spirit she had lost. It all felt pointless, useless. Unimportant. Just like they say. She watched the trees, the confident and strong trees. Eyes dark. What was once there was gone. She felt like she couldn't feel a thing, except for the pain. Her sides ached, her knees wobbled. Her arms bruised. She stepped off the bus, left alone. Alone again. She walked towards her home, feeling her bones creak as she did so. What was the point? Looking over she saw the tree she ran to as a child. Her eyes welt up, she was happy. She liked her life. That was before dad left before mom was angry all the time. Before. Before. Before. Can she go back? Go back to when she didn't feel lifeless. She continued walking, her head down. She never did wrong, she was always kind. She cared. Now it all seemed pointless. A blue jeep was parked in the driveway, mom was home. She looked to her right, her favorite tree stood tall. She stumbled to the garage. Sure to be quiet. Stealing some rope and a water, she left. She stumbled towards the tree, tears streaming down her face.
"Ugly"
"Fat"
"Dumb"
"A mistake"
"Disappointment to society"
"A bad girl"
Climbing the tree she imagined the days her mother would call out her name. "Amber diner," She would sing as she jogged to the tree. A bright smile lit up her face then, now it was always a scowl. Remembering this made everything come flooding in all the happy times that didn't exist anymore. All the times she was locked away and starved. It was pushing her over the edge. The rope wrapped around her throat. She was suffocating in the memories, everything was overwhelming. She wanted to fall, she wanted to hide in the darkness. It was fading. Make them go away. She couldn't hide the pain any longer. Tears, tears that's all she remembers. It will soon be over. Her neck was straining to consume air, her eyes closing. Her hands struggling. I want it all to go away. Take it away. I don't want to be in pain. I don't want to be in pain. I don't want to be in-
"Honey I love you."
"You do mama?"
"Why of course I do, more than anything in the world"
"I love you too"
"To the moon and back"
