Chapter 2

I get to school the next day and sit next to Kevin in the lounge.
"Maya!" I hear Betty and Veronica say
"Yes?"
"You have to come with us"
They lead me to an empty classroom and ask me to look in.
I do and I see Reggie and Josie making out.
"I am so sorry Maya" Betty says, rubbing my back
"It's fine. He said she wanted him, now she's got him" I say, walking off.

A few moments later, Reggie enters and tries to talk to me.
"What's wrong?" He asks
"I saw you and Josie" I say, getting up from the couch.
He doesn't even walk after me.
"I'm done. We're done" I say.

Word travels fast around Riverdale High. By lunch, everyone knew I broke up with Reggie. Even the Serpents.
"Hey! Maya right?" A girl with pink stripes in her hair says
"Yeah that's me." I say
"I'm Toni."
"Hi Toni" I say
"You're the Sheriff's daughter right?"
"The one and only" I smile
"Then you can tell me why your dad has been busting down on the south side"
"Honestly, I have no clue, Toni. He doesn't talk about work at home"
"Okay, sorry for snapping. You seem really nice. You're Cheryl's minion right?"
"I wouldn't call myself that. She's just a really close friend." I say

I found out that Midge is dating Fangs, mainly because I saw them. I can't say that didn't hurt, but I hurt him so I guess it's payback.

It's the start of Carrie, the musical. And Cheryl is Carrie, of course. I'm just Kevin's helper. Along with Fangs.

"To squeeze in, pow, why not now? Where do I belong? Look where I am, damn, my whole life feels wrong" Cheryl starts in Cheer practice
"What if I do snap, holy crap, I'd jump out of my skin, and so would you" Toni continues
I give them a look and continue the routine

"I go crazy, no body cares what it does to me" I sing, as Kevin put his arm around my shoulder and sings
"And it's crazy, I would go out of my mind"
The whole cast continues to sing, but I don't join the dance.
"Welcome: to Carrie the Musical" Kevin starts
We go around introducing ourselves and our parts
It's really awkward because I'm sat between my twin, and my summer fling.
"Hi I'm uh Maya Keller, and I'm Kevin's Co-director" I say when they get to me

Cheryl proceeds to sing, to prove to us that she's 'fit' to play Carrie White
As she finishes, a sandbag falls and barely misses her
A loud scream comes from her, as everyone else gasps

During break, I go to pops to grab a milkshake
"Hey Maya?" I hear Fangs say
"Yeah?"
"Mind if I join?" He asks
"Sure" I say as he slides into my booth
"I heard about you and Reg" he says
"Yeah he cheated on me"
"I'm sorry"
We talk about nothing and everything as we head back to school

"Where were you?" Kevin whispers as Betty and Veronica sing "do me a favor"
"Pops" I whisper
"Shh" Sweet Pea says
"Ok Veronica I'm Obsessed with everything that just happened!" Kevin gushs
"Thank you. It helps to be off-book and in full costume." Veronica replies
Betty laughs
"Oh crap..." I whisper
"Don't be so modest" she starts
"You are the literal embodiment of Chris" Betty continues
"Never has a role been so perfectly type cast."
"Betty..." Archie says
"What was that, Betty?"
"I mean, think about it. Spoiled rich girl,check. Major daddy issues, check. Bad to the bone, trying to control everyone around her, including her boyfriend and best friend, check, check and check"
I look at Kevin who just sighs
It's gonna be a long day....

"Why'd you go to Pops with the sheriffs daughter?" I hear Sweet Pea ask Fangs
"Just catching up" I hear Fangs reply
"Dude, she's never going to fall for you. Her dads the sheriff, you're a serpent. Think about it buddy, I don't want you to get hurt." Sweet Pea says, patting Fangs' shoulder

I turn a corner before Fangs sees me, but it's too late
"I know you were listening, Maya" he says
"And I know Midge is cheating on moose with you." I say
"Maya..."
"No fangs. I thought what we had over the summer was real..."
"Were you thinking that when you were screwing the captain of the damn football team?" He snaps back
"Don't you dare bring him up!" I snap
"Then don't give me a reason to" He says
He steps closer to me
"Fangs..."
"Just.. be quite for a second" he says, kissing me

"In the meantime, Cheryl's understudy will be playing the role of Carrie" Kevin says
"Understudy?"
"We appointed one after the sandbag incident" I say
"Who?"
"Midge Clump" Kevin replies

As she sings"Carrie", Alice turns "Carrie" into Betty", causing Betty to look at me, confusion in her eyes
I shrug, look at Alice
"Don't leave me Betty. Don't leave me like all the others"
"Are we directing a train wreck?" I ask Kev
"Where's my tea?" He says

We're all getting ready for the show as my dad walks in.
I hug him and start singing again
"You ain't seen nothing yet, it's gonna be a night we'll never forget"

"10 minutes till places!" Kevin shouts
"Where's Fangs?" I ask
"I don't know" a girl replies
We open Midges dressing room and see him in there with her
"Fangs!" I say
"I was just giving her some last minute notes" he replies
"Well hurry up, because it's 10 minutes till places"

I'll give you a quick rundown: the black hood is back. And he killed Midge. He said that he's coming for those who've sinned. So basically the whole entire town of Riverdale.

The next day at school, I see the sherif and my dad walk in.
"Dad?" I ask
"Have you seen Fangs Fogarty?"
"Um I haven't seen him since before places yesterday. Is everything alright?"
"He's under arrest for the murder of Midge Kulmp."
"But-"
"Listen, Maya, he was the last one seen with her. He's our only suspect"
"Um the fucking black hood?!?"
"Why are you defending him?" Veronica says behind me
"None of your business, city girl" I smirk
"Are you still pissed at me because of Betty said. Because if she can apologize to me and you can't.."
"I didn't do anything wrong. Everything she said was true."
"Well.. then I guess I'll just have Betty to myself. She likes me more ya know"
I want to hit her. I want to hit her so bad. But, her daddy will press charges
"I'll like to see you try, V" I say, walking away

I meet up with Jughead and Betty at pops and give them a rundown of my relationship with fangs.
"Wait.. so when he said he was busy or out of town... he was with you?" Jughead asks
"Yes and I'm telling you this so I can help him. I still... I still have feelings for him ya know?"
"Does he know?"
"I mean I think so. He did kiss me a few days ago"
"Then let's go help our boy"

I wait outside the courthouse until Jughead says I can come in.
"Okay, Maya. You can come in"
"Oh fangs." I say once I reach his cell
"I'm fine Maya.. I just don't know what'll happen when I get out of here"
"People are gonna riot, probably." Attorney McCoy says

The night of Fangs release, my dad instructed me and Kev to stay at home. So we do.
"Kevinnnn I'm bored"
"Dad said we can't go anywhere."
"I know I know!" I pout, sitting on the kitchen counter
A few minutes later, my phone rings
"Hello?"
"Hey it's- it's Betty. You need to come to the hospital. Fangs just got shot at the station and we don't know how much longer he has. Please Maya"
"Betts I can't leave my house."
"I'll come get you. I'll call your dad myself and say I'm scared to be at home."
"Alright" I say, hanging up

Sweet pea and Toni look at me as I walk into the hospital and ask for Fangs
"Why are you concerned about Fogarty?" Fp asks
I don't say anything, I let Jughead tell them everything

I stay at the hospital overnight, even when my dad called and told me that Hal Cooper was the Blackhood.

I decide to leave when I get a call from FP
"Fangs was declared dead right after you left. I'm so sorry Maya"
