Philadelphia, PAVTP met up again to talk about Stacy. Its been months since they had actually planned to meet just to talk about her. Wouldn't say that they had given up on finding her, but they realised it was nothing for them to do besides hope and pray.
They stopped singing every Tuesday a few months ago as well. It just didn't feel the same anymore without everyone there. Plus, they didn't want to lie to their viewers anymore. Some viewers stopped coming back because they saw the tension and they noticed that the passion just wasn't there anymore. Some even started messaging them privately over their concern for Stacy and Jahlil. Stacy's social medias were completely abandoned, so viewers were just puzzled by what was going on. All of this confusion and frustration caused the singing to stop. Facebook Live was no more.
They were focused more on their individual lives. Aja was in graduate school, Hao took some evening classes as well, while the rest of the gang worked regular jobs. They still were friends, just no where near as close as they used to be. Bickering and blowing the smallest situations out of proportion is another big cause of their distance between each other.
"And why do you think Stacy will be at this party?" Aja asked. Aja, Hao, Dwayne, Geneva, and Kendra were all gathered in Aja's grandmother's house-kinda like old times despite a few missing factors.
"Look," Geneva grabbed the phone from Aja, which showed the flyer to a Wet n Wild party that was coming up. "This person that posted the flyer has a picture with Stacy in it on his page. " She clicked on the Instagram name which read @EDubation, and scrolled down to show the picture she had discovered earlier. It was a picture of a very large pool. Stacy along with some other girl where standing off in the back talking. The caption read "In a few weeks, this backyard gone be jumpin', let me know if you slidin'. BYOW"
"Wow,"
"Damn," Dwayne said lowly. "She looks happy."
"She just abandoned us and her life, for this?"
"We been wasting our time tryna find her, meanwhile she don't wanna be found."
"Hey," Geneva cut in. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "I know Stacy looks fine and safe, but that don't mean she's not in trouble. How do y'all know she's not crying out for help right now?"
"She don't want our help, Geneva," Dwayne added. "Look at her, she living her best life."
"The girl she's talking to must've said something funny, that's all! She's laughing."
Dwayne sucked his teeth. "Yeah, and if I was being held against my will and being sold for sex, I'd be cracking up at jokes too. You're right."
"Shut up Dwayne!" Geneva was annoyed. Why must he always be such a smart ass during serious moments? "Look, why don't we just find out for ourselves by going to the party?"
Kendra rolled her eyes. "I can't swim."
Everyone looked at her, wondering why she had so much attitude.
"We're not getting in the pool, we're just going to see if Stacy's there." Geneva explained.
"What if she's not there?" Aja questioned softly.
"Or...what if she blows us off and goes back shaking her ass for cash anyway." Kendra added.
"Kendra!"
"I'm sorry!" She shrugged, showing that she wasn't really sorry for what she said at all. "But I don't care anymore. I cried over her! And the whole time she just was leaving us in the past to forget about while she lives some secret life? Let her do it then, she won't get another tear out of me, I bet you that."
Geneva rubbed at her temples and took a deep breath. "Look, all of y'all are jumping to conclusions. You can literally guess 50 things about what's going on in this photo and y'all choose to stick with the worst one that comes to mind."
"It's been a year Geneva," Dwayne said. His voice full of exhaustion. "At this point, it's her choice if she wants to stay where she at or come home."
Geneva looked around at them all, completely taken aback by the things they were saying. She looked at Hao, and he had nothing to say, that hurt even more. Usually he would speak up in situations like this, but he didn't back her up.
"Y'all serious?" She looked at them once again.
"I hate to be the one to say it but, yeah." Kendra said. "Just let her live her life how she wants and we'll do the same, like we been doing."
Geneva looked at Aja, who also had very little to say tonight. "Aja? Please."
Aja slowly shook her head slowly. "I don't know, Neva. You know I love Stacy, but maybe she just don't wanna see us."
Geneva's heart was hurting. Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at Dwayne. She didn't bother to ask him how he felt because it was already clear. Suddenly, she realized the best thing to do right now. She stood up and headed for the door.
She knew none of them meant any harm by or truly mean what they were saying, they were just tired of searching and worrying about Stacy. A simple smile on her face in a recent photo just angered them so much that they got to talking crazy. But she knew that after a few days, they'll come back around and realize she was right.
"Where you going?" Hao asked.
Geneva looked back over her shoulder at him, "To talk to the person that I know for sure still cares about Stacy."
