Caligo is a city still greatly struggling from the past wars. Citizens must wear small air masks over their noses to avoid illness. This makes the city have a lower population than some of the other cities but the Telumbra assure all that they will protect everyone. The city is known for its earthquakes as well and is located near a volcano. The building and city are not effected oftentimes thanks to the technology.

Wendy woke up to her little brother's voice right in her ear. "Wendy, come on! Come on! We'll be late for school!" He pulled the covers off her

Wendy sat up, blinking. "Henry, calm down. I'm up, I'm up." She rubbed her eyes and stood up. "Get out of my room"

Henry ran off and she got ready, pulling on her clothes, brushing her hair, and renewing the purple and blue streaks in her hair. After brushing her teeth, she went downstairs. Her father had already left for work, and so it was up to her to walk with her brother to school. After grabbing a quick breakfast and pulling on her air mask she headed out the door with Henry, who had gotten ready on his own.

The city was on high alert today and Telumbra were all over the place.

Wendy kept Henry close, as she had never trusted those creatures quite as much as everyone else. Fortunately, they reached the school without incident. Before she knew it the school day was over. At dismissal, she picked up Henry and began walking home. She was tired and had quite a bit of homework.

Beside their house, there was a small alley that was usually empty. Today however there was a person with bright red hair laying in the alley clearly bleeding.

Wendy's eyes widened. She hadn't seen this person before, but she knew this person needed help. "Henry, can you go inside quickly, and get out the medkit? I'll be inside in a minute."

Henry ran inside while Wendy lifted up the person and carried them inside.

Surprisingly the person was still conscious and groaned when you picked him up. "W-Who a-are you?"

"Easy. Calm down. I'm not gonna hurt you. My name is Wendy. " I carried him inside and gently set him down on the couch.

"N-Names Clay." He mumbled as he clutched his side.

Henry ran in with the medkit.

Wendy took some bandages and disinfectant. "This might hurt a bit" after gently pulling his shirt off she began to clean the wound.

Clay bit his lip in pain but tolerated her.

Once she was done she bandaged him. "There"

"Do you like it in this city?" Clay asked sitting up a little.

"...Well, it's kind of a hassle, wearing a mask everywhere you go. My dad is looking for work in other cities so we can move, but...no luck yet..." She sighed and sat down next to him. "What happened to you?"

"The Telumbra happened and they'll do worse to you if we don't get out of here," Clay said his reddish eyes cold as he glanced at the door.

"What? You're in trouble with them? I-I can't risk leaving, my little brother needs me -"

"Then figure something out they'll be here soon. First, though you need to help me protect you. I'm a Trodo." Clay said wincing as he sat up completely.

"...I'll only do that if you promise me one thing - that you'll find some way to leave my family out of it," Wendy said defiantly.

"I can try my best...however we'll need to exchange blood." Clay said cutting his arm.

"...Ok." I cut my own arm, wincing a little.

Clay licked her arm and held out his. His eyes changed to brown as he moaned feeling his power falter.

Wendy hesitated a second but copied him.

Clay sucked on her blood a bit letting his wounds heal he tried not to hurt her with his fangs. When he looked back up at her smiling a bit he saw that her eyes had also changed to a light red.

"Your eyes..." She said. When she saw him smiling, she smiled back a little.

"Yours are looking fine. Red's not a bad color for you." He said chuckling a bit.

"...What just happened? Why did my eyes change?"

"We're connected now. We'll probably exchange memories sometimes too. Now say the words I summon you, Clay." He said standing a bit weakly.

"..I - I summon you, Clay!" She said, after a moment.

Clay vanished and turned into three red orbs before flying into her hands and becoming a sword at her touch. The sword had a red stripe going down it and was the perfect size for Wendy to hold. 'I'll help fight for your freedom.' He said as a voice in her head.

"Whoa...this is amazing." She said aloud, turning the sword in her hand.

There was a knock at the door.

Clay quickly returned to human form and hid behind the couch.

She went to answer the door, taking a deep breath before she opened it.

A Host stood at the door. "Hello, Wendy Piloti. We have reason to believe a very dangerous creature called a Trudo may be in this area. Please remain indoors for your own safety and know that we may be searching the premises if he is not found soon." The male Host said eyeing the inside of the house.

I nodded, trying to stay cool. "Alright. Thanks for letting me know." I started to shut the door.

The Host nodded and walked away. Clay sighed with relief. "Grab the things you are going to need as fast as you can....your brother is going to be a problem so don't tell him anything."

"....What is he going to say, when he wakes up tomorrow...and I'm not there? Dad'll have left for work, he'll be alone."

"You'll have to figure that one out...oh wait did he see you bring me in?" Clay asked looking frustrated.

"Yeah. He did, but he's young. I doubt he knows who you are..." Wendy said wringing her hands.

"They'll get it out of him....we don't have a choice...he's going to have to come to. Hurry and gather everything up while I figure out how to get us out of here. Clay said pulling his shirt on.

"Ok." I ran upstairs to wake Henry, and to grab some stuff.

Henry was bleary-eyed when I woke him. "Come on, we have to go."

"Where," He asked?

"Pack a suitcase of essentials only. No time to waste we have to get out of here."

While Henry ran around his room getting things, I packed my own stuff.

Clay ran up the stair to look out the window. "Get food and water if you can and I can't carry much so keep it small." He said when he found Wendy.

"Alright....." I paused. "Where are we gonna go?"

"Outside of the walls if I can get us there," Clay said looking impatient as he pressed a button to open the window. "We'll escape using the natural water that runs through the city. That's how I got in that's how we're getting out.

Henry ran in with his little suitcase.

Wendy ran downstairs and filled a small bag with food and water. Then she ran back up. "I've got the food and water."

"Can you put all of that in one bag I'm going to need to carry the kid," Clay said just as a knock came to the door.

Wendy quickly rearranged the stuff so it all fit in one bag. "Alright. We gotta go. Now."

Clay grabbed the bag and the kid before picking Wendy up as well and jumping. He broke into a run as soon as he touched the ground and it wasn't long before laser fire could be heard.
