It's a very hot afternoon deep down in the forest where the grass is always green and the water is always blue and clean.Nomhlo is sitting on a rock staring onto the cattle lonely as he can ever be.
He finally convinced his father to let him herd the cattle to show his friends he was a real man but now he missed playing with his friends 'suna baby' at home while his mother was cooking. He then decided he didn't like herding and he won't do it again.
Before the sun went to sleep he took the cattle to the krall and went to his home to greet his family and he went straight to his small hut that he shared with his 2 brothers to rest because he was very exhausted from herding his father's cattle.
After some time his mother called him to the fire to eat.He found his Father,Grandfather, brother and his baby sister eating sweet potato. That was his favourite so he immediately forgot his exhaustion and dug in.
"Nomhlo how was herding today" asked Bodiwa Nomhlo's father.
"Baba I am sorry but I am never herding again because boredom ate me up and left my skeleton only" replied Nomhlo.
His grandfather Nkulu, his mother susa and Bodiwa looked at each other and laughed.Nomhlo looked surprisingly at them.
"My son I hope you have learned your lesson. You are very young and not fit for herding but once you grow older you will enjoy herding very much" said susa.
"Indeed my brave warrior your mother has said it all you are still very young and you have to enjoy your childhood while it's still there because trust me it will go soon and you will miss it when it goes" Nkulu told him.
"Yebo baba" agreed Nomhlo.
They finished eating and sat there for a very long time story telling and laughing at jokes they made. After several minutes passed they slowly got tired and went to the huts to sleep.
