Desiree has always been obsessed with the Phantom of the Opera. On a visit to Paris, she me...
All photos and videos used here do not belong to me but to their respective owners "NEVER in my life have I seen such attractive costume designs, Madame Dubos had outdone herself!" Clara chirped next to Desiree in the costume room, happily sewing a gorgeous lacy dress.

It was for a girl playing maid in the Don Juan and all the costumes are as sensual as they can be according to the theme of the opera.

Desiree had to agree. Madame Dubos had gone all-out in designing the costumes. They had to use yards of red, black and ivory silk with gold and silver chains sewn into the bodices along with velvet-trimmed coats for the men. Desiree herself was starting to enjoy dressmaking tremendously and she thought the colour scheme for the opera had impressed Erik. (Erik had shown a bit of satisfactory gleam in his eyes when Desiree sneaked some designs to show him) After all, he himself was such a fan of dazzling costumes.
However, the amount of velvet Desiree had to handle to dress Piangi was annoying her. While she had very little trouble in making the red death costume for Erik, who was lean and quite slender, Piangi's costumes took up twice the amount of fabric to make. Moreover, Desiree was having trouble portraying the flabby man as a sleek womanizer that is Don Juan by means of her costumes. Adding folds and ruffles to his costumes seemed only to emphasize his belly and chin, which made him look more like an overgrown and under-exercised emperor than a suave lady-killer. Moreover, the tenor was almost as whiny as the former Prima Donna. He complained a lot about Desiree's costumes "not being attractive enough" for him. When she grumbled about it to Madame Giry, the older women merely scoffed.
"Don Juan is not supposed to be beautiful.", Madame Giry commented.
"He is a great seducer and he uses his wits, charms and entices women into falling for him. He is a good singer and the point of an opera lead is to sing enticingly." she continued.
"Well, then it's just my luck to work for such an unattractive talent." Desiree rolled her eyes.
"Don't fuss, remember that you asked specifically to be his dresser." Madame Giry lowered her voice. "Be careful, the authorities are nearer than you think.", she looked to the newly-recruited group of stagehands assembled around Raoul and the two managers.
