I rubbed my fingers over the black marker on my purse to make sure it was real. Yep, it wasn't fading away.
It's probably not even his number! It's probably a fake, he's having me on.
But why would he do that? What kind of joke is that? Would Ashley do that?
Speaking of Ashley like I know him. I know about him.
Maybe it is real. He's given me his number.
I can't call it. Can I call it? What if it actually is fake. But what if it's real?
My head was spinning and I was hungry, so I discarded any thoughts residing in my brain and tossed my purse and phone into the passenger seat, and headed home.
But it was just as bad when I got home. Stripping out of my dress and tights and ridding the excess of jewellery I had on I pulled on my pyjamas and snuggled into my couch. Then I was left to my thoughts. Still high on the whole 'meeting my favourite band' thing, I felt giddy that there was this slight chance that I had the phone number of a favourite band member. With nothing to do but wait for the arrival of my pizza I let my gaze wander to the TV as my hands idly reached for my phone. If it is his real number, wouldn't it be too soon to call him? It's like after a first date, you don't want to call them the next day, and especially not the same night! Subconciously tracing my fingers over the buttons, I was startled when it suddenly started ringing in my hands. As if in a freak coincidence and twist of fate it was Ashley calling me, I quickly accepted the call without looking to see who it was.
"Hello?" I anxiously awaited the reply.
"Evie, I just want to say sorry about tonight again" Madison's voice filled my ears.
"You are so completely forgiven. Guess who I ran into" I rushed out not really interested in any more apologies.
"Who?"
"Black Veil Brides. All of them! They were there and there weren't any tables free so since I was just leaving I told them my booth was now free and they all signed my purse and I think Ashley has given me his number like his actualy phone number can you believe it?" I gushed out in one breath.
"What? No way, no, no way" she stuttered. She was just as big a fan as I was, so I could only imagine how gutted she felt. "Wait, I need to process this" she told me and paused. I could hear her breathing slowly, and then she squealed.
"You have Ashley Purdy's number?! No, wait, oh my God, I'm coming over I'll be there soon" she told me and hung up. I laughed, pulling my phone away from my ear and looking at it lustfully then to the purse that was next to me. A couple of digits away, Ashley Purdy was there. I felt so close in that moment, priveleged even. I was brought back to reality however when I realised himself and the band where almost definitely still at the restaurant considering I had only left them a while ago.
I finally heard the blissful sound of a knock at my door which meant pizza. I took the money off of the shelf by the door and opened it. I could smell the warm cardboard and the variety of meats and cheeses, they filled my nostrils and I happily breathed them in. As I paid the man I saw Madison's car behind him, so I kept the door open and told her to hurry up as the pizza guy left and she ran up to my house.
"Good timing" she smiled at the pizza in my hands.
"Fuck off if you think you're getting any" I said, following her back to the sofa. She plopped down into the seat and looked at me with puppy dog eyes.
"You get Ashley Purdy's number and pizza?"
"I also got ditched at a restaurant" I reminded her but couldn't hide my smile.
