I'll pick you up at 8 ;) Ashley's text read. I smiled holding my phone close to my chest, then put it back down on my bed so I could finish getting ready. It was quarter past seven then, and I was just doing my makeup. I was running on time, thank god. I couldn't imagine being late on my first date with Ashley.

My first date with Ashley.

I talk as though there's going to be more. I mean I hope there will be. We'll just have to see how tonight goes. Gosh I'm nervous.

Once I'm finished getting ready I take a look in my full length mirror to observe my work. I didn't want to look too dressed up since he mentioned we might be going to a club after dinner, and I wanted to look a bit slutty (so judge me, it's Ashley Purdy and I wanted to make a good impression in his standards) but if we were going to dinner that wouldn't be appropriate. After searching through my closet I found a long sleeve, slinky black dress with a low cut V neck which showed a reasonable amount of cleavage for a restaurant and for Ashley. I was going to put on some tights too, but it was a warm night so I took the plunge and waxed so now I was standing here with my now very smooth, slightly pale legs peaking out from under my fairly short dress.

I had splashed out a while ago on these shoes, so it put a smile on my face to see my black Alexander McQueen wedges with a grey bow adorning my feet with freshly painted toe nails. My hair was done in a very glam wavy over-one-shoulder style, courtesy of Natalia when she was over earlier. Her mother owns a salon and she works there part time which means free perks for us.

I stood in front of the mirror for a good five minutes, just staring. I looked good. Did I look good? I looked fancy for sure. Too fancy? I'm going to stand out. At the restaurant and club, people will notice me, people are going to look. They might stare. I'm going to stand out.

Scurrying back to my dresser I looked for a makeup wipe. It was 7:35. Maybe the shoes; I'll take off the shoes. What else will I wear though? Maybe I can change the dress. I abandoned the makeup wipe and search my closet for anything else, maybe jeans and some kind of top. Oh god I can't do this, I'm not ready. I heard my phone buzz, muffled by my duvet, but I ignored it. But only for a second before I heard a car honk outside. I dashed to my phone to see the text from Ashley, then looked out of window to see his recognisable car in the car park outside the building complex.

"Fuck" I whispered. There was no time to do any modifying. I'd have to go out like this. Shit. Ok, I'll be fine, you look fine, I assured myself as I put on my shoe which I had slipped off in my panic.

Composing myself before I opened the main entrance door to the car park, I took one more deep breath, adjusted my bra (just to be safe) and walked out. A warm breeze blew past my face and I felt somewhat more relaxed. I got into Ashley's car and smiled. He wasn't wearing his sunglasses or his cowboy hat. I liked it, I could see his face clearly.

"You look great" he said, pulling out onto the road. I was thankful he was watching the road and not me because I could feel myself blushing. Despite my insecurities I accepted his compliment graciously.

"Sorry, I'm early, hope I didn't rush you?"

"No, I was already ready" I told him, half lying.

"Our reservation is at eight, but I just have to drop this folder over at Andy's place. Studio, music, work stuff, and that boring crap" he laughed.

"That's absolutely fine" I said, melting into the soft leather as he talked to me so casually. Is it too early to fall in love?

I'm completely kidding by the way.

He glanced at me with a smile. "So what have you been doing?"

"Had a few photography gigs this week. Other than that just working in my local diner"
