legacy
it had been a few days after the incident and i was sitting up on the tower at work. it was a pretty hot afternoon and hundreds of people were on the beach. many scratches from the monster rocks at north bondi had come in, lost children and a broken arm at the skate park occurred and i've been handling almost all of them.
i had a few moments to rest up in the tower while watching the water with bisho. he was stuck up in the tower for most of the day because of a bad ankle.
"i can't wait until my ankle is healed, mate" he told me while keeping his eyes on the water.
"yeah, it sucks being stuck in the tower" i responded before downing some water.
"i feel useless... but i know i'm not" he chuckled at the end making me join in.
"the tower is like the most important job on the beach but it's also stressful because-" i got cut off by loud knocks on the door. i quickly got up, looked over the railing and saw two young women standing there with angry faces.
"hello, what's up with you girls?" i asked them as they came in.
"someone has stolen our bags!" the brunette explained as her friend chewed on her nails.
"oh my, did you have important stuff in there?" i asked as i grabbed a pen and paper to record their information.
"we had our phones and some money. that's the only important stuff" the brunette answered.
"and what colour were they?" as i wrote their stuff down, bisho paged the boys on the beach.
"mine was white and hers was hot pink" the girl explained as her friend continued to bite her nails.
"okay... now what did the person look like? who stole it?"
"he was tall, dark hair, tanned skin and had a nose piercing" my eyes widened as she explained. i wasn't one to jump to conclusions but i was suspicious that it was the man who harassed me.
"he also had scruff along his jaw... he was wearing black swim trunks and a black tank top" the blonde finally spoke up. i nodded my head and bisho dialled the police.
"take these and scan the beach. tell me if you see him" i passed a pair of binoculars to the brunette and she began to scan the beach.
"do you want to go down onto the beach on the rhino?" i asked the blonde. she nodded her head and we left her friend and bisho up in the tower.
"where did you last see him?" i asked the worried girl as i started up the rhino.
"well we were in the middle, between the flags, our stuff was a few meters away from the flag closest to the tower. cleo, my friend, she saw him walk away towards the skate bowl with them" she explained as her eyes scanned around the beach.
i nodded my head and began heading towards the park. i beeped the horn as we sped through the sand.
"harrison to legacy, will you need backup?" i heard harrison voice through the radio.
"yes, please! i may know who the bloke is" i spoke into the radio.
"copy" i saw harrison running down the promenade from the tower and towards the rhino. i waited as he hopped on the back and the blonde explained to harrison.
