Oromis was sitting in his hut on the Crags of Tel'naeir reading a scroll when a golden eagle landed on the window ledge. The eagle chirped at him to come get the small scroll attached to its leg. Oromis got up from the table and walked over to the window and untied the scroll from its leg. The eagle squawked and pecked the window ledge clearly wanting food for its long journey down here. Oromis went into the kitchen and grabbed a few seeds and set them on the ledge. The golden eagle looked at him with it's brown
eyes, while its expression said: Are you crazy. I'm a eagle, I eat meat. You expect me to eat seeds. "I'm sorry it's all I have for you. If you are hungry there might be some left over carrion from Glaedr's last meal." Oromis said to the eagle. The eagle gave him a one eyed look again and quickly ate the seeds and then flew off. Oromis looked at the scroll and saw the Erdas Dragon Riders sigil on it. Oromis immediately knew it had to be from Anaba, only the leader Erdas Dragon Rider could use the seal. He broke the seal and read Anaba's neat, curvy handwriting:
Dear Oromis,
We have found 3 new riders, it has been at least 40 years since we've gotten a new rider. They are now here at Sanctuary, but they have been attacked by Galbatorix's forces. They were lucky they managed to hold off Galbatorix's forces till we got there. I fear that Galbatorix will never give up looking for Sanctuary, but for now it is the safest place in all of Erdas and Alageasia. Oromis I offer you and Glaedr the opportunity to join us here at Sanctuary since you are all alone. So if you would like to join us use this mirror to scry me. I wish you luck and happiness Oromis and Glaedr
Sincerely, Anaba
Oromis read the letter twice before unrolling the mirror from its cloth rolled up in the scroll. It was a small, rectangular, silver framed mirror. Oromis rolled it back up in its cloth and set it on the table. He then thought about Anaba's offer to join the Erdas Dragon Riders. He was tempted to scry Anaba now, then he and Glaedr would no longer be alone. But he had to stay here incase another rider appeared and besides he couldn't leave. First of all Du Weldenvarden was his and Glaedr's home. Second he needed to stay and keep a eye on Galbatorix. It hurt him that he couldn't go and be around others like him, but this was about destroying Galbatorix once and for all. "You have decided to stay?" Glaedr's voice tumbled inside Oromis's head as he spoke. "Yes, the future Alageasia Dragon Riders need us. It is our duty as elders to train new riders. We cannot run away from our problems and join the Erdas Riders. We cannot give up on the Varden, nor can we allow Galbatorix to continue to rule Alageasia." Oromis said to Glaedr. "I agree we cannot run from our problems. We must stay and face them." Glaedr said. Oromis nodded in response to what Glaedr said. Even though Glaedr couldn't see him he knew that Oromis agreed with him. Oromis then sat down at the table and grabbed some parchment, a quill, and a inkwell from the table and began writing. The golden eagle returned to the ledge, watching him knowing it still had 1 more delivery to make.
