Evian Whitethorn

Erza fluttered her eyes open, her eyes meeting the beautiful yet handsome face that braced her eye-view.

The same woman that she saw in the guild's infirmary room so many years ago when she was a child who had just joined the powerful light guild.

"I-I never got y-your name..." Erza rasped, clutching onto her stomach.

"Evian Whitethorn," Evian smiled gently at the scarlet-haired warrior. "My name is Evian Whitethorn. The daughter of the Water Dragon, Glendys, and the lost princess of the Dragons."

(Post Tartarus Arc)

Evian was staying with Erza in their shared apartment, after Master Makarov had announced that the guild was disbanded. Much to her shock and her little knowledge about the dragon's daughter, Erza had Evian stay with her so that they could know more about each other.

"How old are you?"

Evian shrugged. "I don't know...maybe older than Zeref, I guess?"

"Are you a dragon slayer?"

"Technically yes, although I am my mother's daughter," Evian explained. "She flows in my blood so that I do not over exceed and lose control of my powers."

Erza hesitated before asking the next question. "Do you remember what happened that day in the forest? I remembered Master telling me that First Master had found you in the forest, heavily injured, and your injuries healed in only just three days!"

Evian shook her head. "Not really, that felt like so long ago. Every time I try to remember something from then, I get a really bad headache, so...sorry if I can't answer your question."

"It's fine."

It was...awkward, to say the least. Someone had just awoken from a hundred year (maybe longer) nap, and she probably doesn't know how to interact with people anymore. Erza clearly knows where she stands with Jellal, but with Evian in the picture? Look who's bisexuality just started working.

"Anything do you wanna know about?"

The vinyl player in Erza's head scratched to a grinding halt as she hesitated and pondered. Well, technically, everyone in the guild knew that she had feelings for Evian, despite being asleep for the majority of their encounter. She also thought about her sometimes when she slept, and muttered some unladylike things about the ancient dragon slayer under her breath.

I hope that she wasn't hovering around like Mavis does and hear what I say about her, and know that I think about her almost every night.

"Do you have the ability to project yourself in spirit form?" Erza asked.

"Technically speaking, yes," Evian nodded. "One of the magic scholars from my dad's palace taught me how to do so when I was a little girl. I use it whenever I need to commute with someone who is far away from where I am, especially in an emergency.

Erza muffled a sigh. She didn't need to know the amount of relief pouring into her body after hearing that explanation.

Evian suddenly stood up, which startled the scarlet-haired beauty for a moment.

The dragon slayer held out a broad, calloused hand towards Erza, and smiled gently. A smile that radiated sunshine, despite the weariness around her eyes and cheekbones that silently spoke the many years of fighting before she fell into her deep sleep.

"Come on, Erza. Let's go take a ride towards the small market just down the hill, hm?"

The brilliant wash of pink that washed over the Fairy Queen's cheeks and ears was simply a sight for sore eyes.

After a short gallop on their horses, both women dismounted them and tied their reins onto a fence near the entrance. The village was tranquil, and it was to Erza's taste when she first found this place. Evian also quite enjoyed the peace when she moved with the younger woman.

Without a moment's hesitation, Evian quietly slipped her hand into Erza's and tucked their interlaced fingers into the pocket of the dragon slayer's slacks, which made the shorter woman blush yet again.

"W-What are you...doing?" Erza managed out, stammering as she realised what Evian was trying to do.

"Hey, cut me some slack, won't you?" Evian smiled. "I've missed simple human skin contact while I was asleep, so just let me enjoy this."

You don't know how big of a deal this means to me, jerk, Erza silently retaliated at the pale-skinned woman.

She had to deal with the entire skin contact for the entire afternoon there, and by the time they had reached back to their cottage, the sun was already setting.

"You go ahead," Evian nodded her head towards the door. "I want to see the sunset. Feel free to join me if you'd like."

Erza happily went for the second option, scooting towards the human-dragon hybrid, seeking from the warmth that somehow always rolled off the well-muscled body of hers, which she also found out during the first night they slept in the same bed.

"Beautiful, isn't it?"

"Yeah, it is."

A new array of stars was about to make their appearance in the sky, when the dark ultramarine blue replaces the scarlet red-orange sky when the sun was still peaking above the horizon.

"Remember that day when I saved you from Kyouka?" Evian broke the silence.

"Yeah, what about it?"

"There was the sunset, the same as this," Evian pointed towards the sun. "Although my memory was frazzled back then, when I saw you for the first time, you reminded me of the scarlet skies of the sunset."

Erza didn't know what to make of that remark. Evian was only the second person in her life to talk about her hair like that.

But she was different from Jellal.

Evian hadn't seen the world in over a 100 years, trapped in a deep slumber. Only her soul lingers whenever she felt like roaming around.

So Erza smiled, leaning her head against the older woman's shoulder.

"Thank you," Erza said. "Not a lot of people say that, you know."

"Well, I'm gonna have to compliment you even more then, Erza."

Evian Whitethorn might just be the person she needed in her life.
