One Week Later
The look plastered on her mother's face was enough to make Lunar flee the scene, upon entering her home.
She looked as if at any moment, she would defecate in the light blue pants that hugged her small frame, outlining the little curves she did have.
Both of her hands were placed securely in her lap, as she looked out into the dimly lit apartment, as if she were waiting for something to appear.
"Momma. Are you oka-
Lunar hadn't even finished her sentence, when she felt her already aching back hit the concrete wall behind her. She had half the mind to scream, as she felt her father's calloused hands firmly grip the base of her neck.
"Lift up your shirt."
She wasn't sure how to feel at the bitter words that left his mouth. His eyes were cold, and a shade of black, that was almost unreal.
Lunar kept her head down, feeling her father's orbs dance around her smooth caramel skin, never leaving.
She glanced at her mother, who sat in her same position, facing forward, as if she were too afraid to see what was happening around her.
"Did you hear what the fuck I just said Lunar?"
His words were clamorous, making Lunar jump under him, letting a tear roll down her cheek.
Slowly, she bunched the fabric of her white tee between her fingers. The shirt that once hung loosely around her body, concealing her secret; dropped to the floor, and in that moment, she could see her father inwardly converting back to his old ways.
His eyes had glazed over with a tint that was almost sinister. He had a crazed expression on his face, as he looked at his eighteen year old daughter's poking stomach.
Silence.
"So this what you do Lunar? After all your mother and I taught you, you go out and get yourself pregnant?"
She could smell the rancid scent of whiskey on his breath, and Lunar frowned; refraining from answering his question, knowing her response would only infuriate him more.
Her father was a recovering alcoholic, and had been abstinent for a little over three years. He used to be a great man, who loved his wife, and his daughter, but in his second year of marriage to Lunar's mother, he enlisted in the army.
And with drills and time schedules being his daily routine, he'd lost sight of reality, and saw things he wished he'd never seen before.
By the time Lunar had turned ten years of age, and had grown to the point of asking for her father every awakening day, he returned home.
