Mark's POV:
If I was to be honest, the whole note incident from a few months ago had been plaguing my mind for the last while. I knew I had to tell Sarah the truth at some point, however, the delivery of the truth was what had me stumped. After having things so good for the last little while, it was hard to tell Sarah what had happened. The last thing I wanted to do was ruin what peace we created: It was a selfish motive. I won't deny it. But after having so much bad was it honestly horrible to desire keeping the good?
Part of me was glad she asked but the other half didn't know how to take it. I had been biding my time for days, digging through my head for what to say. When she sprang it on me, I wasn't sure if I was ready to talk to her. What if she didn't like what I had to say? Surely, she wouldn't leave but could I stand her anger and her silence if she didn't? In the end, she dealt with it surprisingly well. I was full of crazy but that didn't seem to faze her. I sucked at relationships before and there was a chance that I still did. Everything with Sarah, however, came naturally to me.
Time flew by after that.
As the first few snowflakes of late fall graced us, warm cuddles came along on cold nights. Yeah, I'm a bit of a sap, but who in their right minds would refuse something as awesome as cuddling?
Sarah and I decided to make a few changes around the bar during one of our cuddle talks. The inside of Sarah's bar looked more like an Irish Pub than any kind of club found on the strip. It already had the classic red bricks and it felt warm and inviting. As the days grew colder, we decided it would be a good idea to have a fireplace in the centre of the far wall. There was enough room and it would add a certain warmth to the space that was scarcely used at the back of the dining room. Business was going well enough and there was a small amount of money put away for improvements like these. Cold passer-by’s would see the roaring fireplace and would want to bask in its warmth. The bar was closed for a week to get that done.
It turned out pretty fantastic.
Another thing that was stirred up in our conversation was a gaming tournament. Half of the proceeds from the entry fees, and the specials on the menu that night would go to Child's Play, which is a charity dedicated to getting toys and games to sick kids. The other half would be presented to the winner of the tournament. It was a great way to raise money for charity; and to get some extra heads in the door.
I was still feeling wary about getting videos out on YouTube. The response to my first video in a year was better than I could have hoped for. My inbox simply exploded with fan-mail and well wishes. I remember a few tears being shed that night.
A few days after discussing it, we had settled a date for the tournament. Sarah and I dropped by Tom's place, picked up one of my old towers, as well as one of Tom's. We decided to refurbish them with some of the money I had saved up from my YouTube career. Sarah insisted she pay for a portion of the parts though. I dissuaded her of that quickly enough. This tournament was going to be run by myself and Wade. Sarah would only provide the venue. In the end, we had six computers: My personal desktop, my old tower, andTom's old tower. Wade was awesome enough to bring his own desktop, and Sarah donated two new gaming PC's as well.
