August……………..

Father and I had gotten close in the past couple months. We spent every afternoon talking about different things. Albert and Jasper spent every weekend getting to know me. Sometimes, I would go to their work to watch.

Today, I was with Jasper at his work. He was trying to interrogate a wizard who committed a crime. Later, I planned to go to Diagon Alley to get some supplies for my trip to Hogwarts. Dumbledore sent me a list of items to bring.

I sat in Jasper’s office reading when Jasper came into the room and sat down in his seat. He looked very worn out and stressed from interrogating for a couple hours. “Still can’t get him to confess?” I asked curiously. He gave me a nod. “I can’t even tell if he is lying or not. He is a great manipulator,” he told me.

{Lying huh…}

“I might have something in my bag that might help,” I said and took a small mint tin out of my bag. I opened the tin to him to reveal lime color mints. Jasper raise and eyebrow. “I don’t need to freshen my breath Evelyn,” he told me.

I gave him a smile. “These are Lie-mints. These are to help you figure out if a person is lying or not. Think of it as you are the lie detector if you eat one,” I told him. Jasper looked a bit hesitant. I have used it a few times myself.

Knock knock….

We looked over at the door to see his co-worker. “Detective Howell…It’s time,” Inspector Reed said to him. “I’ll be there in a minute,” Jasper told him. Inspector Reed gave him a nod and walked away from the office.

Jasper took a mint and ate one. “I’ll see you later Evelyn,” he told me. “Okay. I hope it helps,” I told him. He gave me a nod and walked out of his office.

I put the mints away and continued to read my book.

Few hours later……

“Evelyn.”

I turned my head to the door to see Albert. “Hi Albert,” I said and gave him a hug. He returned the hug. “Is Jasper still working?” he asked curiously. I gave him a nod. Next thing we knew, Jasper walked into the office with a smile on his face. He looked very relieved.

“I finally got the confession out of the guy. It’s all thanks to you Evelyn. The mint really helped,” he told me. Jasper managed to piece together bits of truth from the interrogation. I gave him a smile. “That’s good,” I said and took the mints out of my bag. “Here. I think you have a better use for them here. If you need more, just ask and I’ll make you some,” I told him.

Jasper gave me a nod and took the mint tin from my hand. “I’ll use these wisely,” he told me. Albert got my bag. “Anyways, I’m going to take Evelyn to get her things. Will you be coming home for dinner?” he asked his little brother.

“Yes. I will. See you two then,” he told him.

I gave Jasper a hug goodbye and left with Albert to Diagon Alley.

We found ourselves at Diagon Alley. Diagon Alley was a cobbled, and crooked street that was hidden in London in a pub called the Leaky Cauldron. Witches and Wizards in all of UK come and do their shopping. We arrived through the floo network.
