Did Frank ever stop questioning Gerard about his crush? Well, yes but it took a few weeks. Did Frank ever stop obsessing over Jamia? It took a while, but yes. In the meantime Gerard was driving himself insane. No matter how many times Gerard had dropped hints about liking Frank, or even almost tried to tell him, he was still oblivious, and once again, staring at another person. This time, however, it was a guy. A guy named Ray. Now Gerard couldn't blame him, for he had a crush on Ray for a few weeks. Ray was just sweet and nice. But his crush for Frank hasn't gone away in more than weeks, months. Stressing himself out over this, resorting to google. On average crushes only last four months, then (according to google mind you,) it's considered 'in love'. But Gerard was only in 5th grade, and that google search wasn't helping.

"Hey, you're gonna fail ELA if you keep staring at some boy," Gerard chuckled, trying to do his own school work.

"Hey I'm sorry, but how could you not admire Ray?" Frank asked, taking the pencil out of Gerard's hand. "In fact, I've never seen you admire your crush."

"Here we go again. I'm not going to tell you or give you any hints."

"Well I already know that it's a guy, and I know him."

"Okay, well do your work."

Frank dropped it until lunch. He kept on looking at Gerard, trying to figure out if he was staring at anyone.

"Nothing, I can't figure out anything," Frank sighed throwing his hand in the air dramatically. "I give up, please just tell me."

"No, maybe one day, but not now," Gerard laughed, throwing a chip at him.a

"But what if you don't like him by then?" Frank whined. "You know, I'm just going to name people until you blush."

"No! That won't tell you anything!" Gerard insisted, already feeling his cheeks get red.

"You just know that I'm going to get it right." Frank started listing almost every boy in their grade, including himself a few times. It took everything to not blush. "Okay, I give up."

"Finally, I'll tell you one day," Gerard promised.

"Pinky promise?" Frank asked, sticking out his pinky.

"Yes pinky promise."

The next day Frank seamed off. The only thing stared at was his math worksheet. And even when Gerard tried to talk to him, he would reply with short answers, before he snapped, yelling "Gerard could you please be quiet for a second! I'm trying to do something, you're so annoying!" then he directed all his focus to his work and didn't talk to Gerard for the rest of the period.

At recess, Frank saw this as a perfect time to get away from Gerard, and sat at the very corner of the playground by some bushes. However, he wasn't getting away that easily.

"Hey," Gerard said, walking up to Frank and sitting down, Frank scooted over.

"Get away from me!" Frank hissed, turning his body away from Gerard.

"I might not be the person you want to see right now, but I'd like to believe that I'm still your friend, so please, please just tell me," Gerard begged.

"Y-you're weird!" Frank yelled, "you're weird and wrong, a-and, disgusting."

"W-what?" Gerard stuttered. His heart shattered.

"You're gay," Frank hissed. He used that word as if it were the worst thing on earth.

"You were just supportive yesterday, what happened to you?" Gerard asked, on the brink of tears. Frank just broke down, crying. "What's wrong? Please tell me, I want to help."

"Being gay, is wrong, bad, disgusting," Frank said between tears.

"Who told you this?"

"The bullies. They said that they saw me staring at Ray, said that it was gross, and wrong. That I'll go to hell, and they called me names. They said I was being gay. It hurt. It hurt even more when I realized they were right. I am gay. I'm gross and disgusting, and wrong."

"Frank, that's not true."

"Why are you still talking to me, you heard what I am."

"I like talking to you. I like your laugh, your smile, the fact that you can't do your school work. You're not gross, disgusting, wrong. You're perfect, you're Frank. That's why I like you, well I like you a lot actually."

"Me? You like me?" Frank asked, looking up slightly at Gerard.

"Uh, yeah. That's why I didn't want to tell you my crush." Gerard was blushing madly by now.

"You know, you're cute," Frank sniffled, calming down from the recent events. He grabbed Gerard's hand and he just looked at Frank's hand in his, at him, then looked away, bushing madly. That's when he realized Gerard was right. Girls do have cooties.
