One day, we will one day die, but if everyone dies, should people living work together to a certain direction? With a lot of problems going on today, is it even possible to not only come up with a mutual end goal, but to also accomplish it? What is the end goal of civilization, better-yet, humanity? There has been a lot of talk about the end goal of society, there has been talks about this, but one of the most interesting that I have found, was a discussion on reddit. Possible Answer #1
GetCapeFly from Reddit, stated that the end goal of civilization is just to survive, and reproduce.
This makes sense, as other organisms, such as other organisms as simple as flies, fleas, or most complex like dolphins, deer or tiger, don't have any goals other than to survive, and reproduce.
Rebuttal
I have seen some people debating that there is nothing that we have to be survived from, because we are on the top of the food chain, and the only thing that we have to worry about, is natural causes and other humans [which we will get into soon].
Rebuttal #2
We will be getting into this topic later on, but perhaps the reason that animals and organisms have no other goals other than to "survive and reproduce", is because they are not as aware or "reasonable" as humans are, and perhaps that if they were, they would have more goals than we do.
Possible Answer #2
On the same reddit, kerouacrimbaud said that the end goal of civilization is to remove humanity from the uncertainty of nature.
Meaning, that if we control our environment, we will be able to control our civilization's survival.
Rebuttal
Natural will always be uncertain, the more we change it, even if we just are inside all day and do nothing, weather will still happen, and food will one day go scarce.
My Thoughts
Even though religion does play a whole part of this, I do think that the end goal of humanity is to make sure that the earth itself can survive. At the end of the day, we will die, but we have to make sure that the earth is not destroyed so we as a civilization can keep running until something inevitable (such as when the sun explodes into a supernova), but by that time, I would hope that we would be at least having other star systems in which that we colonized so when the time comes for us to "move", we will and it won't be totally unfamiliar to us.
