I sat waiting at a bus stop, my headphones blaring, and my foot tapping. I was so invested in the music I was listening to that I closed my eyes, silently reciting the lyrics from memory. I opened my eyes when I felt a weight on my leg and I couldn't believe what I saw, a beautiful girl had sat on my leg.
She had long brown hair, beautiful blue eyes, a rainbow death metal shirt, and a mid thigh length black skirt. She was looking the other way and hadn't noticed I opened my eyes. I wondered why she had sat down on me instead of taking a spot on the nearly empty bench I was on. I pushed back one side of my headphones and cleared my throat.
"Oh, Hi!" She responded with a smile.
"Why are you sitting on me?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I thought you were asleep and wouldn't mind some company" she replied with a strange playful tone. I didn't know what to do as I felt my face turn hot. She smiled like she knew I was uncomfortable and thought it was funny.
"Do you not want me to sit in your lap?" I wanted to respond but I couldn't form the words.
"Well, I think you're really cute and smart," She continued, "you don't have a girlfriend, do you?"
"No but uh ..." I stammered. I'm so bad at talking to girls that I didn't know how to smooth out the situation.
"There's no harm in me sitting here then, is there?"
"I guess not," I replied unsure of myself.
"Great!" She smiled again, pulling out her phone to check something. I couldn't believe what was happening, a cute girl sat on MY lap because she WANTED to, I was flabbergasted.
She put her phone back into her skirt pocket and looked directly at me and I gave her shy smile. She stared at me as if pondering something then adjusted herself to be more comfortable, leaning against me with her arm around the back of my neck, her eyes fixed to mine, her face significantly closer.
"You know ... you're even cuter up close," she spoke with a smile, "What are you listening to?" I told her the name of the band and the song.
"Yeah, that's a good one. I really like the rhythm of the drums and guitar." This was the longest conversation I'd had with a girl in a while, even though she was doing most of the talking. Her eyes were still fixed to mine as she continued, "Do you ever see someone and feel an instant connection with them?"
"Not really," I said sheepishly, "I don't really get out much." I think I was starting to feel a connection with her for some strange reason though. Her free hand moves up to my face, her fingers sliding down my left cheek.
"Pity, an attractive guy like you, any girl would be lucky to be your girlfriend."
"Not many girls really notice me," I admit. It's strange, I have a weird compulsion to be honest with her.
She giggled, "Good thing I have a sharp eye then, today is my lucky day."
Before I could react, she leaned in and kissed me on my right cheek. I was shocked but she pouted when she saw my expression.
"Are you okay? You look scared," her right hand cupped my left cheek while the other rested against my chest.
"No, no, I'm fine. I guess I'm just not used to a pretty girl kissing me," I reassure her, trying to put on a brave smile.
"Good," She said excitedly, "because I was hoping this time you could contribute." She closed her eyes and leaned in again.
This time our lips connected. My hands seemed to move by themselves, sliding from my pockets to her hips, my fingers slipping under her skirt. Her grip on me tightened as we began kiss more and more passionately. The world around us seemed to fall away as we kissed.
When our lips finally parted, she put her forehead against mine and bit her bottom lip. The only thing I could say was "wow." She nodded, our heads rubbing together, "yeah."
"Why me? Out of anyone you could have chosen in this city, why pick me?"
"Because I saw you sitting here alone, I thought maybe you need someone as much as I do." I'm stunned by her response but, it was true.
"Would you do the honor of being my girlfriend?" I ask smiling.
She giggled again, "It would be my pleasure."
A moment later, the bus arrived. She stood and held out her hand. I took it and we got on to the bus, sitting around the middle.
Her head leaned against my shoulder and I wrapped my arm around her.
"Do you wanna come back to my place?" I suggest, "We could order take out." She giggled.
"Only if we get Chinese food."
"Deal!"
