Chapter 3

Shawn was looking over the crime scene pictures and watching the video. Shawn was also looking at pictures of the missing children. Shawn saw a picture of Bree Tanner. "Hey Julia, I saw this girl Bree Tanner on the video," Shawn replied. "The missing girl? Bree Tanner's father was convicted of her murder," Julia replied. "How did you know that?" Shawn asks. "I am reading her file. Bree Tanner's father Greg Tanner beat her and her mother. Greg Tanner murder his wife Rose Tanner many years ago. Rose Tanner's body was found close to the same time Bree disappeared. The police charged him for the murder of his wife and daughter," Julia replied.

This video might proof that Greg did not murder his daughter. I do not know if he murder his wife, but we can clear him of the murder of his daughter. I am going to talk to Greg Tanner," Shawn replied. Shawn and Julia went to talk to Greg Tanner. "Hello Mr. Tanner, my name is Shawn Spencer and this is my wife Julia. We are working for the police. "What are you doing here? Are you trying to get a confession because it is not going to happen! I did not kill my wife or daughter!" Greg yell. "Mr. Tanner, we are not here to get a confession. We are here to hear your side of the story," Julia replied.

"No one ever wanted to hear my side of the story. The police and everyone else thought I was guilty. I do not blame the police for thinking I was guilty. I did a lot of bad things. I am also guilty of beating my wife and daughter, but I am not guilty of murder," Greg replied sadly. "Mr. Tanner," Julie replied. "Please call me Greg. "Ok, Greg, do you have any ideas who might want to hurt your wife?" Julia asks. "Yes, I do. I told the police, but they did not believe me. I am not Bree's father. Rose was already pregnant when I met her. Rose told me that Bree's real father did not want to marry her or have anything to do with her. I marry her to give her baby a name. I think even after we got married she kept seeing that man," Greg replied.

"What made you think your wife was still seeing this man?" Julia asks. "Well, she would go out and not come back for days. When she did come home, she would be wearing fancy clothes and jewels. I ask her where she got the clothes and jewels from. Rose told me that some friends got it for her and that is when I became angry. I start hitting her. I not proud of that. If I could go back to handle things different I would. One day I did follow her when she lies about going groceries shopping. I heard her on the phone fighting with Bree's real father about paying child support. I realize not only she was having affair with Bree's father she was blackmailing him too," Greg replied.

"Did you follow her anymore after that?" Shawn asks. "No, I did not. When Bree was four years old Rose disappeared," Greg replied. "Why didn't you file a missing person report on your wife?" Julia asks. "I did not file a missing person report on my wife because I thought she ran away with her lover. I wish I did, but I did not think anything happen to her," Greg replied. "What about Bree?" Shawn asks. "Bree was not easy to raise. Bree would hang out with the wrong crowd of people. Bree would be a smart mouth with me so I hit her. I am not proud of that, but I did have a violent temper. When Bree was 15 years old, she ran away from home. I did file a missing person report, but the police did not do very much. When the police found my wife's body, they arrest me for the murder of my wife and daughter," Greg replied.

Shawn and Julia went back to the police station after they finish talking to Greg. "What are you doing guys?" You should be working on the case I assign you to. We need to find these serial killers," Jason replied. "I know Jason, but I think Greg Tanner is innocent. I also saw his stepdaughter Bree Tanner on the videotape," Shawn replied. "Bree Tanner is Greg's stepdaughter? I thought Greg was Bree's real father?" Jason asks. "Greg told us that his wife Rose was already pregnant and she might have been blackmailing the real father. Greg told us Rose would be wearing expensive clothes and jewels. Jason, I feel like I have a good judge of character. I know in my heart this guy is innocent," Shawn replied.

"I trust your judgment Shawn, but we have to focus on finding these serial killers. Innocent people are getting killed. We have to stop these killers," Jason replied. "I know Jason, but we have to help Greg. We cannot let him rot in prison for a crime he did not commit. I know some people who can help they are Adrian Monk and Carlton Lassiter. Monk is a good detective and he has helped the police solve many cases. Lassie is a good policeman too. Monk and Lassie can be working on proven Greg's innocents. While I help you solved the killings in Seattle," Shawn replied.

Shawn waste no time on calling Monk. "Hello," Shawn heard Natalie replied. "Hello Natalie, this is Shawn Spencer. Are you guys busy?" Shawn asks. "No, we have been unemployed due to police cutbacks," Natalie replied. "Do you two want a job and how fast can you two get on a plane?" Shawn asks. "We are going to the airport right now!" Shawn heard Monk yell. Shawn call Lassie. "Lassie, I need your help," Shawn replied. Shawn told Lassie everything that Greg told them. "Shawn, are you sure this guy is innocent? He did beat his wife and daughter. Lassie replied.
