My Nasty Mate

Chapter 4: Just a human

“ I wish to go train instead of being here “ Justin said.

“ I wish to be in a train to Florida” I retorted.

“ You still want to go Florida? I thought you made friends” he replied.

“ Yeah, but I miss friends back home” I pouted.

“ Well , here's your friend to make you forget them” he gave a pointed look towards the approaching figure of Falon to which I just blushed.

“ Hey !” Falon said engulfing me in a hug to Justin's disapproval.

“ Hi , Meet my brother Justin” I said

“ Could you keep your paws off my sister?” Justin said smugly and to my surprise Falon obliged.

“ Hey ! Hey ! My paws are off her but u won't say same for you” he winked to me and pulled Justin in a headlock.

I left them to it and moved to attend my first lecture for the day.

After a quite tiring morning with two assignments to complete this weekend I make my way to the Hall. I found the people I was looking for and made my way to them. Jess pulled me into a side hug just when I was sitting next to her.

“ You look tired,honey” I sigh putting my head over the bunch of my books I kept on Table.

“Well, that’s because I'm! I feel like if you look clearly you can see my spirit taking the stairway to heaven ! And why is that none of you are studying Philosophy?” I said this taking some fries off Jess plate.

“Hey! Those are my fries !” I continue eating them slowly teasing her. “And I had philosophy last semester and so did Jamie and Rose” she continues and hits me on my hand when I try taking some more fries.

“Ouuchh! You hurt me” I say pouting and making her laugh.

“Awww,you poor human!” Falon says sitting in front of me and pushes his tray towards me “Here got you some fries” He winks and add “you can thank me later with some kisses”

The guy next him who I recall goes by Dexter kisses his cheek forcefully “ You're welcome” he says looking at me smiling “ And I can give you more kisses if a want” he turns to Falon and pouts his lip making kissing noises.

Falon pushes his face away and focuses his attention on him.

“So .. Justin is your brother ?” I chew the fries faster as my mouth is so full of them I could barely speak. In my defence, I'm really hungry and had only a bowl of cereals for breakfast. And even though

I'm only a human my diet has always been like a wolf.

“ I'm afraid he is” I smile taking some cheese grilled sandwiches. I look me some cheese. There is nothing like too much cheese for me.

He looks confused as if he wants to ask me something but doesn't know if he should or not.

“ Go on, say it” I prod him sensing his dilemma.

“Well it's just you are human, a very pretty one” he adds making me blush “ and your brother he is…” he let's the words hang for a bit so I decide to help him.

“ A wolf?” I ask finishing his sentences.

Even though everyone was pretending to not listen before this now they literally stopped doing whatever they were busy with. And I could feel all the eyes on the table on me.

“ Care to explain ?” It was Caitlyn who asked.

“ Well, My father is a wolf and he was the part of the pack. Actually, still is just that he left the pack grounds when he found his mate. My mother is a human and had no clue about the existence of supernatural beings so my father had to move and go all the way to Florida.” I told them pretending to be very casual about sharing my parents story which I have treated as a secret my whole life before this moment. To be honest it is a big secret but not these wolves and somehow sharing something as basic as this about myself makes me feel better.

“So why move back now ?” Rose ask.

“ um well …” I say “ You don't have to tell if you don't want to.” Jess adds glaring at Rose.

“ Hey, I'm glad you're back, I was just curious.” Rose adds.

“ Haha..it's okay. I don't mind telling.” I fake laugh nervously and tell them.

“ You see my father trained me and my brother assuming we'll shift into wolves one day. And Justin did. And it’s not like we didn't come back to the Pack, we all used to come till I was 14 to visit my uncle.But when I didn't shift at 14 , I stopped visiting the pack and my mother had to stay with me.”
I chew down my sandwich and feel the need to drink coke in order to gulp down my foodpipe. It was really hard for me to accept that I'm just human. It's not that I'm looking down on humans,my mom is a human. But ever since I was small and saw Albert, my Father's wolf and came to know that one day I can have one too,I wanted to be a werewolf. Justin wasn't even half excited as I was ! And that's why I find the “Moon Goddess” unfair.

“ When Justin turned 16,
my father thought of moving back because anytime now he can find his mate.” I tell them trying to not sound as sad as I feel.

Ever since I was a kid, I remember my parents telling me their love story as my bedtime story. The told me how mates are meant to be made for you. That your mate will understand you and be there for you when no one else can be. The told me so many wolf mate stories and I have fantasized about having a mate even before I learned what liking a boy felt like. I would ask them to tell me their story till I remembered each word like as if it's mine Hoping and praying for a mate who would leave everything for me , for whom I'm his first priority.

I plaster a smile and tell my friends I'm getting late for my class and leave the table hoping that this once the moon goddess will take pity on me and provide me with my mate.

Well if you didn't notice I did name catlyn after Catlyn stark ! Game of thrones last season returns this Sunday and I can't keep calm !
