sometimes beliefs vary differently

"Black is not a color," young Imelda pointed out in class one day. One of her classmates insisted that it is. She wouldn't budge on her belief. She carried it in her heart until she came home.

Her mom noticed how silent she was. "Imee, what's wrong? Did something happen at school?" She sweetly inquired.

"Mommy, my classmates said black is a color. But I read somewhere it isn't. What is true mommy?" Imelda answered while her lips pouted.

"Oh sweetie, you know that black is the absence of any color while white is the combination of every color there is."

"Exactly, mommy. But they won't believe me."

"Baby, sometimes you shouldn't try so hard pushing other people to believe in you. Because that might make them walk away from you. Every person has a unique personality, sometimes beliefs vary differently. When you say black is not a color, then sure, it's not. And when they say it is, then maybe it is. Now honey, black symbolizes something gloomy, darkness, oftentimes death. So people became used to referring it as a color. What you know is something that is explainable in science but not everyone makes science the basis of life. So what you have to do is, approach your classmates tomorrow and tell them you respect their beliefs. Trust me, you wouldn't have to endure blackness or gloomy days just because you had misunderstandings with your classmates."

Imelda nodded and kissed her mom, "yes mommy. I love you."

"I love you too sweetie. You're special. Always remember that"
