Niall’s POV
That struck me in the heart. Just saying to him that she was gone sent spasms of misery through my whole body.
“W...what?” Harry choked.
“That text was from the hospital. They said that she isn’t waking up and that they’ll stop trying and take her off the meds in 2 hours. They asked if we wanted to be there...” I broke down in front of him, I just lay on the floor balling.
“Whoa, what happened?” Zayn started, the rest of the boys just turned up. Harry slid down the wall and a few traitors flew down his cheeks.
“Wait, wait. I’ve got his phone.” Liam read the text and sat down on the floor too. He passed it to Louis and Zayn and they held glum expressions.
“Are we going to go?” Louis asked.
I just stood up and started walking towards the exit. There were fans everywhere and no security. I just walked straight at them, for the first time I had ever witnessed they moved apart and let me through. I was expecting them to crowd me and ask lots of questions but they didn’t.
As we burst through the hospital door I whispered the name ‘Genevieve Elson’.
“Just along that corridor to the right.” She told us.
I arrived in her room and sat down; I just sat there for at least 20 minutes. The boys waited outside.
I started whispering to her, saying my goodbyes. The familiar tune of the last song we played ran through my head. I started singing the tune to her:
Shut the door,
Turn the light off.
I wanna be with you,
I wanna feel you love.
I wanna lay beside you,
I cannot hide this,
Even though I try.
Heart beats harder,
Time escapes me,
Trembling hands touch skin.
It makes this, harder.
And the tears stream down my face.

My love, my heart is breathing for this,
Moment, in time. I’ll find the words to say.
Before you leave me today.
At that moment I was crying hard.
She twitched. Her eyebrow twitched. It twitched again. Her finger moved up and down. Once, slowly but smoothly.
“Gen?” I asked.
“Niall?” She breathed.
“GEN! You’re awake!”
At these words the boys burst through the door to see her eyes fly open.
“Is she awake?” Harry asked with an excited expression.
