3 weeks later my dad was out the hospital and me and Carter stayed home to care for him. "Dad you hungry?" I yelled while making me a sandwich. "No but water would be fine." he said. I grabbed a water bottle out the fridge and gave it to him. Carter came downstairs "What's up pops." he said to my dad making me smile. "Hey son." my dad replied. Calvin was a little jealous of my dad and Carter's relationship but I didn't care. There was a knock at the door then it open, it was Calvin and Julian came in behind him. Wassup pops?" Calvin said to my dad and Julian just nodded his head. For a moment everything felt weird cause Carter was there but I didn't care, I had love for him and my dad likes him so nobody else opinion mattered. "Hey Region." Julian said trying to be funny. "Sup Julian." Carter said before I could even say hey back. "Wassup Mr. Smith." Julian said completely ignoring Carter. "Hey son." my dad said then he started coughing. "You need more water?" Carter asked. "No, but thanks." my dad replied trying to hold his cough in. Me and Carter went outside on the back porch. "Babe wassup with them?" Carter asked while lighting a blunt. "I don't know, all I know is Calvin don't like you for some reason and Julian psssh I don't know what the hell his problem." I said staring at my feet. "Well if one of them disrespect me imma have to lay him down." Carter said. I looked at him with disbelief. "What you mean lay him down?" I said. "As in I don't take bullshit from no niggas." Carter said putting the blunt out and getting up. I followed him in the house. He grabbed his coat and keys and walked out the door with no words. "Where you going??" I asked following him to his car. "I gotta go." he said sounding pissed. "Where you going?" I asked again but more demanding. "You asking to much questions, I have some business to handle." He said getting in the car. I just stood there in disbelief.
