Chapter 2: The real monster
Nervous, frightened and confused, Alex took the girl's hand and they closed their eyes. Alex and the girl were plunged into darkness, Alex's legs buckled as she held her head in pain. The screaming was getting stronger. They were in the right place. Alex got up and and straightened her back. "Come on, we got this! I'm Alex." She encouraged the the girl with a soft smile on her face. "I-im Seraphina... Nice to meet you, but-" She replied cut off by an ear-splitting screech. Alex collapsed again but got back up. "Come on, the faster we get this done, the faster you can be at peace." Alex said and started marching towards the source of the screams. Emitting from the corners, was an orangey, firery glow. 'We're going the right way...' Serephina and Alex trekked on, the screaming getting louder and louder; the pain also getting increasingly worse. "FOR F*CKS SAKE, LEAVE ME ALONE!" Cried the anguished voice, sobs began and the screaming begun once again. "Never darling... I'll be here for as long as it takes for you to get help!" Yelled a gruff and distorted voice. They cackled menacingly and proceeded on with the torture. Alex and Serephina had tears in their eyes, Alex blinked, her fists clenched. She couldn't bare to listen to the poor soul any longer. They dashed past the corner into the inferno. "STOP RIGHT THERE!" Growled the amalgamation of nightmares. The beast had knife-lick claws and dark tar dripping from its collosal body. They looked at the thin flesh ball strung on a board, she was face down, but it was clear she was a tortured version of Serephina. Serephina had tears in her eyes and the other one, was sobbing and moaning in pain. The beast stamped towards them when Alex remembered remembered what she said before. 'You have to take control of the thing in your head' She grabbed Serephina's shoulder. "WE ARE IN YOUR MIND! YOU CAN TAKE CONTROL! IMAGINE IT'S A DOG THAT CAN BE TRAINED WITH ENOUGH EFFORT AND PATIENCE!" Alex advised her desperately. Serephina nodded as tears fell like raindrops from her eyes. She shut them and as she imagined a more manageable thing to tackle, the beast was twitching and switching forms. Eventually is turned into a miniature Yorkshire terrier, and was barking happily. It couldn't disappear, but at least it'd be easier to deal with. They remembered the other Serephina and ran to her. They removed the shackled and saw all the scars where she had been cut and burned. She would need an intense amount of help for recovery. Serephina and Alex supported the dying Serephina and walked towards a light, and once again, they were plunged into light...
