Chapter 6

*Billie's POV*

"I know you are in love with her" I hear a familiar voice through the walls.

"I'm not in love with her , I just don't want her getting hurt" I hear Dani exclaim. I can hear the anger in her voice.

"I see the way you look at her. You think I'm gonna just let you have her? You got another thing coming"

"I don't want her!" I hear Dani punch the wall and I spring out of bed.

"Yo what the fuck is going on?" I ask looking at Ava in the floor.

"Baby! Dani was trying to hurt me!" Ava exclaims.

I look over at Dani as she scoffs.

"Yeah whatever, Ava" she walks over to Ava and grabs her by her shirt. "Just know, if I wanted to hurt you, I could have" She let's go of Ava and grabs her keys and storms out of the house.

I look at Ava. Dani didn't hurt her, I really can't stand to even look at Ava right now. "Get out of my house, Ava"

"Wha-"

"Get out of my house" I raise my voice.

I call Dani and she eventually picks up.

"What?" She says through the phone she left in her pajamas. I really have no idea where she could be going. I hear her seatbelt light dinging.

"Put your seatbelt on" I say calmly

"Billie, I'm not a child. I can take care of myself."

"Put your se-" I'm interrupted by a loud crash and then the call fails.

I'm frantic. Everything feels as if it's in slow motion right now. Maybe she hung up. I stay calm for a bit then I get a call from an unknown number.

"Hi , is this Ms. Billie Eilish?"

"Yes ma'am "

"This is St. Claire General Hospital. I am calling about the concern of a Danimah Sanders?"

"Yes?"

My heart is speeding up.

"Danimah Sanders was in a horrific car accident and is in critical condition"

I hang up and speed to the hospital. The limit is 40 mph , meanwhile I'm going 89. I can't cry. I can't cry because it doesn't feel real yet.

I arrive at the hospital and run to the front desk.

"Danimah Sanders!"

"Room 7012 in the ICU unit, miss"

I get inside an elevator and then run to her room. Outside her room is nobody. She has nobody anymore.

I knock on the door and a nurse answers the door.

"Only family is allowed , ma'am"

"I am her only family."

She stays quiet and allows me in the room. I'm breathing so hard. I feel my heartbeat in my through.

Dani is just laying there. She look so lifeless. She is pale , bruised and bloody.

"She flew twenty feet out of her car windshield. Broken arm, 2 broken ribs, punctured lung, along with a small crack in her skull" the nurse explains with remorse.

I don't know what to respond with honestly. I just grab her hand and tears escape my eyes.

"I'm telling you this because I care..it doesn't look good for her"

I hold myself back from completely breaking down. I look at Dani and I realize that she is it. She is what I need in my life. I'm in love with her. I always have been since 8th grade. I would drop anything and everything for her. I kiss her hand softly and lay my hand on her bedside and sob as the nurse leaves.
