"Thank you so much Sameer yeh plan banana ke liye warna tumhara dost mujhe kahin bahar le he nahi jata", Preeti said. "Arre pichle hafte he toh gaye the movie dekhne. Yaar Sameer tu iski baton par mat ja, jhoot bolti hai yeh." "Achha main jhoot bolti hoon, aur tum toh Raja Harishchandra part 2 ho na, joh kabhi jhoot nahi bolte." "Are bas bas, hum yahan enjoy karne aye hai, jagadhne nahi. Bhabhi jab bhi aapko bahar ghumne ka man ho na aap mujhe bata do main koi na koi plan bana he dunga." "Thank you Sameer, tum bohot achhe ho", Preeti said, being proud of her devar.
While the three were happily conversing, one was just silently listen to the conversation and smiling at her sister's and jiju's antics. "Naina tum itni chup kyu ho", Sameer asked. "Aaisi he hai woh, logon ke saath itni asani se ghul mil nahi leti", Preeti told Sameer and Pandit added by saying "Par jab ghul mil leti hai toh ekdum chapd chapd bate karti rehti hai, ekdum non-stop." "Jijuu, aap bhi na." "Cholo kuch kha lete hai", pandit said. "Pehle shopping phir khana", Preeeti said in a firm voice. "Tab toh hogaya kaam samjho. Inki toh shopping khatam he nahi hogi." Preeti stuck out her tongue and teased him. Sameer and Pandit followed the girls around the stalls.
They crossed many stalls and Preeti excitedly bought items of her choice but Sameer noticed that Naina hadn't shopped anything for herself. she was helping Preeti in the shopping but did not buy anything for herself.
Finally they reached a shop only for oxidized jewelry. Earrings and necklaces of all size and shapes were hung on a cardboard and was kept for display. Much to Sameer's surprise, Naina seemed to be very much interested in them and started choosing earrings for herself. Naina started picking up the ones that caught her attention from the lot and brought it near to her ear, but soon it got disapproved when Sameer signaled his dislike towards it by pursing his lips together and nodding in a no. This procedure followed for four more times and finally Naina brought the fifth one close to her ear. It was an oxidized jhumki with a small peacock pattern near the ear piece and small white beads dangling around the ends of the jhumki. This grabbed Sameer's attention as well as he grinned and nodded in approval.
Finally the shopping was over and the four proceeded towards the chaat shop. Soon their table was filled with Kachori, samosa, pav bhaji and bhel puri. Sameer and Pandit; as ususal, were hogging over their pav Bhaji and samosa respectively only to receive Bhukkad as a comment from Preeti. While Sameer was still hogging over his pav bhaji, his eyes were wandering over her. He did not know what satisfied him the most, the pav bhaji that he was eating or the sight that he was seeing. He noticed that even today she hadn't put on any make up, her hair was in a pony, unlike the other two times when he saw her with open hair. He made a note to himself at that point that she looked prettier with open hair rather than a pony. Her lips had a teasing natural pink colour and her eyes had a twinkle in them. But suddenly the eyes he adored till now turned towards him, causing him to shift his eyes everywhere other than her as he did not want her to catch him checking her out.
Finally the evening came to an end and they headed back to their respective house. Pandit received a call from Sameer as soon as he entered his house. "Pandit woh..." "ab kya chahiye". "Number chahiye yaar." Very well understanding whose number Sameer wanted, Pandit played around with him, "92..." "Tumhara nahi." "Toh phir kiska?" "Woh..." "Accha Preeti ka." "Nahi." "Toh kiska chahiye?" "Na..Naina ka." "Achha Naina ka, par kyu?" "Yaar pandit please de dena." "Theek hai deta hoon 85... aur sun yeh baat Preeti ko.." "Nahi bataunga, don't worry." "Par abhi warn kar deta hoon, saali hai woh meri, kuch ulta seedha karne ka sochna bhi mat." "Pagal hai tu, kya bole jaa rahe ho. Tum jaante ho main uss type ka ladka nahi hoon." "Janta hoon isisliye toh number diya hai, agar koi aur hota to iss waqt mar kata mujhse."
**************
It had been half an hour since Sameer had got his hands on Naina's number. After half an hour of battling with himself whether he should call her or not, finally he decided to give her a call. He dialed the number and with the increasing number of the rings, even his heartbeat was increasing. What if she doesn't pick the call from an unknown number or what if she doesn't identify him? Among all these questions she picked up the call and said "Hello". With that he jumped with joy. "H...hh..hi..." he said, trying to control the heart that was pounding in his chest. "Sameer?", she questioned and with that Sameer sat heavily on his bed and laid his back and closed his eyes. She had picked up the call and also identified him. "Haan, main Sameer bol raha hoon." "Toh bolo Sameer, phone kyu kiya?" How heavenly did it feel to hear his name from her, but what would he answer her. Why had he called? "Yeh poochne ke liye phone kiya tha, ki.. a.. tum ghar safely pohunch gayi na." "Haan haan main pohunchgayi. Waise mera number tumhe kahan se mila." "Pandit ne diya." "Ok toh main phone rakti hoon, bye." "Na..Naina.. he said before she could cut the call and mentally hit himself, now what reason would he give to prolong the conversation.
