“Hey! Who the hell are you? Stop hiding” He shouts at you
“You'll be really surprised” You murmur to yourself without letting Nero see you.
He is still fighting with some demons and if you run fast enough, you could probably get out of here.
“Sounds like I have a plan.” Then you run while Nero keeps his attention on the demons.
You manage to get to the other side of the mall and that's when trouble really begins.
Two cops are staring at you, with confused looks.
“What are you doing here ma'am? This is a red zone district!”
“What? Why” You ask trying to look oblivious of the current situation.
“Well.” They look at each other for a second.
“I'm afraid we can't tell you.” You roll your eyes in annoyance. Do they think you're stupid enough to believe them?
“Okay, Sir, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go.”
“Oh no, you don't” Someone suddenly says behind you causing you to freeze.
“Until you tell me who the...” You turn around and then Nero's face turns bright red.
“_____? What are you doing here?”
“Shopping time” You answer with a little smile on your lips.
A couple of minutes after the cops had left, you learn that Nero was helping them. It was after Red Grave incident that the police started working with demon hunters to keep things under control.
You aren’t so surprised, it made sense.
Now you are waiting for Nero's friend to arrive, he insisted on giving you a ride, and you just couldn't refuse.
“Sorry for shouting at you. I was angry because of other reasons and it wasn't fair to let it out on you.”
“It’s okay, Nero, I'm not mad.”
“But still” He says, scratching the back of his head while walking one step closer to you.
“It's fine Nero you didn't know who I was, let's talk about something else like how's your girlfriend?” You ask, trying to change the subject but also because you're really interested.
“Kyrie?”
“Yeah.”
“She went back to Fortuna, but we still talk sometimes.”
“Sounds... sad.”
“It was” Nero mumbles.
“Like, it was one year ago, now I know it was the right decision.”
You feel bad hearing that Nero really seems a bit sad about your question, but deep down you were happy because at least he was single again.
“So” You say breaking the akward silence. “Where is your friend Nico?”
“She'll be right here when you least expect it.”
And he is right.
Nico arrived in two minutes, smiling at the sight of you with a cigarrette in her right hand. She gets out of the van and her eyes immediately land on you.
“I'm _____.” You say offering your hand
“Nico!” Hearing her name makes you smile.
“So, now are you part of the crew?” You shrug your shoulders at Nico’s question.
“Don't think so” Nero says making you feel a little out of place.
What crew?
Nero used to be alone all the time, except when with Kyrie.
“Let's talk inside the van.”
“You think your dad came back” Nico asks Nero who is holding a piece of paper in his hands, and that's when it finally clicked for you.
Nero had two human arms now, you didn't know what had happened to his Devil Bringer. You also think it’s good news for him since he tried all the time to hide his demonic arm.
“Don't know” You hear him say. “But it probably wouldn't take much time to find him.”
You have no idea what they are talking about.
You only knew Nero was an orphan. Your father said that, when you had confronted him about hiring an asshole like Nero, you shouldn’t be so harsh with a boy like him and then proceeded to explain Nero’s history.
