The following week at school, Caroline had went on a date with Flash. She was so glad once it was done but it didn't stop him from saying how he scored the hottest girl in school, which Caroline still didn't believe she was. She noticed how Peter and Ned were acting stranger, whispering to each other but she brushed it off. It wasn't until he dropped out of the decathlon that she got really suspicious with him.

"Peter are you seriously going to drop out right before nationals?" Mr. Harrington asked.

"I want to stay here in case Mr. Stark needs me, you know cause of the internship."

"Yeah and I have a hot date with Black Widow." Flash said as he relaxed in one of the chairs.

"That is false." Abraham said, hitting his bell.

"What did I say about using the bell for comedic purposes?" Mr Harrington said.

Needless to say, Peter walked out of there no longer part of the Academic Decatholon.

A week later, Peter and Ned were in his room trying to track the bad guys who had come looking for the glowing orb they had from when Peter had gotten dropped in the lake. Throughout the night, they took turns observing the tracker and where it was, when it finally stopped.

"Peter, it looks like it stopped in Maryland."

"That must be where their evil lair is."

"Evil lair?"

"Dude. A gang with alien tech run by a guy with wings? Yeah they have a lair."

"Okay, well how are you going to get there? It's like 300 miles away."

They looked to the Academic Decathlon poster.

The next day, Caroline was waiting with everyone else as they made sure they had everything before heading to D.C.

"Hey look, it's Peter." Abraham said pointing.

"Hey guys, I was wondering if I could rejoin the team."

"No. No way, you do not just get to abandon us, waltz back up and be welcomed back by everyone." Flash said.

"Flash." Caroline said in a stern tone.

"Peter!" Mr Harrington said. "Flash you're back to first alternate."

Flash threw his jacket at Peter and walked away as Caroline tried to hold back a laugh.

"Excuse me, can we go already? 'Cause I was hoping to get in some light protesting in front of one of the embassies before dinner, so." Michelle said looking up from her book.

Caroline gave her a look.

"Protesting is patriotic. Let's get on the bus." Mr. Harrington said.

"This is going to be fun." Caroline mumbled to herself.
