So, Sherlock happily pointed out to us in The Last Vow, Molly is no longer engaged to Tom, or "meat dagger guy" as I like to call him.
And I think we all sort of freaked out, right?
But here's the thing:
Why?
Why did they bring a character in just to discard him?
Here's why my dear Sherlollyians.
1) Tom was there to create humor, and yeah, since Anderson became a fangirl we needed an idiot
2) I think, ironically, to show Sherlock/Molly dynamic. Adding a romantic interest for Molly shows Sherlock she's moved on, changed. And he's sad about it, you can tell (see second official Sherlolly kiss.) But now that Tom's out of the way and we saw the clear attachment with Molly, oh yeah, Sherlolly season 4.
