Work had been hell. With Christmas coming and the stock piling high, the bookshop couldn't have been busier. Feeling run off her feet and ready to scream if she heard 'New Releases', she climbed the stairs of her apartment building. As she got to the 10th floor, Lily noticed clothes and pillow feathers all over the hallway.

Walking cautiously towards apartment number 26 she realised her door was left hanging from its hinges. She stepped into her apartment looking with disbelief at the turned-over couches and shards of glass that covered the floor. Lily ran to her fridge. Please still be there. They can't have taken it. Lily's fridge had been left open with all of its contents on the floor. They'd found it. They'd found the emergency cash she saved.

Oliver was the only person she could think of. He didn't know about her secret possessions, but he would take care of her. With her love for Oliver burnt into her mind, Lily packed a few clothes and anything of value that hadn't been stolen.

Arriving at Oliver's flat, Lily took the spare key from underneath the Welcome mat. Without hesitation, she opened the door. Just as Lily was about to cry for Oliver, she heard a woman giggle. Lily remained still as she saw Oliver leading a petite blonde inside from his veranda. Oliver hadn't seen her as he kissed the other woman softly, but with obvious desire.

Tears running down her cheeks, Lily broke the necklace he'd given her from her neck to the floor, slamming the door as she ran from Oliver's flat. As the lift moved down from floor to floor, Lily couldn't help but feel betrayed. She couldn't help but feel scared. Lily got the ground floor of the building feeling very alone.
