"I've asked that Lucas and Levi spell each other out today, but that they work surveillance in your waiting room. I don't want to take the chance that Sam attempts to attack you when you're in the office. While they protect you, I'll get a warrant to check Sam's car and house for evidence."

Addison and I had coffee together in my office after I got in. I invited Lucas in to have coffee with us, but he said that he preferred to sit in the waiting room. I shut the door on him, then told Addison everything that was going on.

"I apologize for not being more communicative last night. I was just scared."

"Don't worry. I knew you looked a little freaked after your appointment with Samantha and I guessed that something had happened. I just didn't know what. I figured it out when I read your session notes this morning. Do you want me to turn your notes into a report that can be used in court? While I was putting myself through secretary school, I worked as a legal secretary. I can incorporate what I learned there with my medical secretary knowledge and come up with a kick-ass one."

"Thank you." We talked about the kind of information that could be put into the report and set a format for this as well as all upcoming reports.

At ten thirty, I received a text from Gabe. "Bullet was from the same type of gun as a service revolver. Obtained search warrant. Have started searching house. Found explosive residue and burned cell phone. Place is pretty empty. Sam not here and didn't show for work today. Be careful."

I called out to Lucas and read him the text. "We'll catch her. Don't worry, Doc."

"I'm not worried about her being caught. I'm worried about the potential danger to everyone involved in the process."

"You worry about you and we'll worry about us. We'll be fine, Doc."

Addison ran down to the cafeteria at eleven thirty and got a sandwich for me. At eleven forty-five she handed me my lunch when I came out of my session. "Thanks", I said. I ate my sandwich while I was typing my session notes and, because I needed the energy, I ate the chocolate bar that she had bought for me as well. I didn't have time for the apple. Oh, well. At least I had time for what was important.

At five to twelve I heard the voice of a busy three-year old asking questions and the answering rumble of his father in the waiting room. I threw out my garbage and quickly finished typing in my notes. I sent them over to Addison, then walked through to the waiting room. "Hi. I'm Dr. Callie Douglas", I said, holding out my hand for a handshake. "You must be Shay."

"It's nice to meet you." Her voice wobbled as she shook my hand, then she lifted her son up into a hug.

David shook my hand as I said, "why don't you all come into my office so we can talk." I ushered the family into my office and shut the door. "You must be Timothy. How old are you?" Timothy stuck his thumb in his mouth and hid his face in his mother's shoulder.

"He's a little shy", said Shay.

"That's perfectly normal. Now, Timothy, I don't have a lot of things for you to play with. However, I do have a drum. Do you like playing on drums?" He nodded his head as he peeked out at me. I went to my recycling bin and emptied it on my desk chair, and turned the basket over and put it in the centre of the floor. "I'll leave that there and if you want to play it I'd be happy to listen to your music. I also have an airplane. Do you like airplanes?" I got another nod, so I took a piece of paper and built a paper airplane. I sailed it across the room. "That's your plane for you to keep, and you can play with it as much as you like."

Shay reached into her bag and took out three cars for Timothy to play with as well. "Do you mind if he has some juice and crackers? He hasn't eaten lunch yet."
