I watch as she rushes towards the park. Hair streaming behind her like waves of red silk ribbon, a huge grin plastered on her face. I follow her as fast as I can, trying not to spill the two freshly made cups of Starbucks coffee that I had in my hands. I quicken my pace, although I knew there was no need to do so. She always went to the same place.
If you didn't already know where it was, the place was almost impossible to find. In all honesty, we had found it by accident. I had been chasing her and she had stopped and leaned against what she had believed to be a solid rock wall, covered with an ivy curtain, when she fell right through the green waterfall. As soon as we stepped into the clearing, it was love at first sight.
We stood upon an emerald carpet that spread across the entire clearing till it met the sparkling opal and sapphire river. Beautiful blossoms of red, green and blue dotted the landscape, whispering of the arrival of spring. Strong, towering trees and swans swimming in the gentle river completed the serene look.
Now, as I stand at the edge of the clearing, I watch as she clambers onto the large slate rock that lies next to the gurgling river and the graceful willow tree. She is looking up at the beautiful rose gold sunset that was painted across the sky.
I couldn't take my eyes off of her.
The brilliant gold rays of sunlight seemed to flow straight to her, as if it were compelled to do so. As if nothing else deserved it's gentle caress. Her skin glowed, as if it had absorbed all of the light and was now emitting it at least ten times brighter.
She closed her eyes and I studied her side profile, noting the way the sun glanced off of her long, thick, dark eyelashes. Her soft magenta lips parted as she leisurely took in a breath. Slowly she turns towards me and my breath catches in my chest. Her hair, deep yet also bright like the bright red of a burning flame and the crimson of blood all in one, set in gentle waves around her face and served to increase the intensity of the glittering emerald pools of her eyes. Her face, proud and strong, like that of a warrior, softened as she smiled at me and at once, I knew. This was it. She was it. She was the one.
Now all I had to do was make her mine.
