Emery's POV
"Earth to Emery," Lizzy said as she snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"Whattt," I said while looking at her. Lizzy and I have been bestfriends since we were little and we have been inseparable ever since. At this point I see as a sister more than anything.
"I'm trying to talk to you about the party tomorrow night." She says with a little sass. I roll my eyes as she goes on about the party.
"I already told you I'm not going to that stupid thing." I have never been the party type but Lizzy has. She's always trying to get me to go to some big party. The one that is tomorrow night is one of the biggest.
Every year there is an end of the school year party and since we're seniors next year this one is huge. Lizzy has been trying to talk me into going all week. But I really don't know if I want to because I have to leave this weekend too. I am going to stay with one of my moms close friends that lives a couple towns away.
I know right it's stupid. I'm 17 and I can't stay home by myself. See my parents have always been the protective kind and during the summer they go out of state for work. They always say something about not feeling safe with me being home for the whole summer by myself. I really don't know though.
I am going to stay with my moms friend and I haven't even met her yet. But I guess that'll change in a couple of days.
"You know what, I think I will go." I say as I realize that it can't hurt if I enjoy myself just a little before this miserable summer.
"Yay!" Lizzy squeals as she jumps up from her chair. "Does that mean shopping after school?" She asks with a hopeful smile.
"Sure." I say with an eye roll. She jumps up and down at my response then hugs me.
"Ok I'll pick you up later around 6ish, ok?"
"Ok," I say with a dreadful smile.

I finish putting on my shoes as I hear a honk from outside. I look out my bedroom window and Lizzy is in her car waiting for me. I walk downstairs past the living room saying bye to my mom and dad then head outside.
"Bout damn time." She says while laughing when I get into the passenger seat.
"Shut up I wasn't even that long," I tell her with a smile. With that we pull out of my driveway and head towards the mall.
We get to the mall and it's packed. Lizzy and I are about to walk into the next store when she stops me. I was about to ask what was wrong but was cut off when I found out what she was looking at.
There was a group of boys standing in the food court walking out way. I'm not gonna lie they were all really good looking. Before I can think, they're right in front of us and Lizzy is already flirting with them.
"Hi what's your name?" She says with a flirty smile. Shes flirting with the one that looks like he's the head of the group. And is also the most attractive.
"I'm Adam what's yours?" He says with a smirk.
"I'm Lizzy and this is my bestfriend Emery," she says with the last part catching me off guard. I look up and wave to them. We soon find out that they're just hanging out here and they live a few towns over. There's Adam, of course, Jace, his brother who was also almost as attractive as Adam, then Finn and Jamie, their bestfriends. Without thinking Lizzy invites them to the party tomorrow night.
"So there's this party tomorrow night and you guys should stop by," Lizzy continues to give the guys the information about the party. The guys look at each other and shrug.
"I guess we could stop by," Adam says with a little smirk. "Are you going to be there Emery?" This catches me off guard and I almost forget how to talk. I look up at him and he is staring at me with his beautiful green eyes.
Wait, what? I did not just think that.
"Umm actually that's why we're here. We're getting clothes for the party. Right Lizzy?" I look over to her for help, but she's off in la la land staring at the boys.
"Um, yeah." She says still dazed. We all chuckle and she snaps out of it. She blushes while looking down.
"Ok I guess we'll see you tomorrow night," Adam says and winked at me while walking away. I immediately blush while looking down at the ground. When they are a good distance away Lizzy looks at me with a huge grin.
"Oh my god he totally just winked at you!" Lizzy squeals as we continue on shopping. I don't respond I just keep playing what just happened over and over again in my head.
