chapter 13

b: "bec omg what's wrong?" brandon says worried at the sight of me through the phone camera. i quickly try to make myself more presentable. he moves quickly, i suppose to go to a more private space, noticing the situation i'm currently in.
bec: "i'm not o-okay" i manage to reply to him somehow with a shaky breath and, consequently, a stutter.
b: "okay... hey hey listen focus on my voice" he says and i try to control my breathing again. i choke on my own air.
b: "bec breathe with me okay? i'm right here we'll do this together" he says and i nod frantically. he starts taking deep breaths and counting the seconds with his hand and i try to follow along with him. it's almost as if i can feel him alongside me rubbing my back in a soothing way as he always used to and i can feel the warmth of his presence.
b: "that's it...that's it let's keep going" he mumbles in between breaths. after a few minutes my breathing is somewhat stable and my tears are beginning to dry in my cheeks.
bec: "brandon i-" i start to say but he shushes me quiet.
b: "we just got you out of your head i don't want to lock you back in there okay? i don't need an explanation just yet. i just need to see you smile right now so let's work towards that k?"
bec: "thank you"
