Aria

I woke up to a pulsing headache and a dry throat. I sat up in the soft bed i thought was my own but soon realized that it wasn't. This was an entirely different room, an entirely different place. The walls were wooden, the floor out of stone and not a single window. The only furniture in the room seemed to be the bed I was lying in.

"So you knocked her out?" a light voice from the other side of the wall asked.

I quietly pulled the blanket away and placed my toes on the cold floor. I didn't know for how long I'd been out or even how it had happened, but it was best to find a way out as quick as possible.

"Of course I didn't knock her out. She fainted!" a slightly familiar voice said.

Carter.

"Sure she did." the light voice said, a girl. "You lured her out into the woods and she just happened to fait..."

There was an irritated grunt that I assumed belonged to Carter. The door groaned and I realized he was probably leaning against it.

"Who are you anyway? I was told I'd be meeting with Grayson's son." Carter said.

"That's Alpha Grayson to you, birdy." she said bitterly. "And for now you will be speaking to me about the girl. Everything you say will be reported directly."

Who were these people? Who was this "Alpha"?

"Then report to Alpha Grayson that I will only speak to his son. I do not trust this information with a pup."

"I am not a pup!" she shouted

"Then tell Alpha Grayson I just do not trust this information with you."

Suddenly there was a creaking noise, probably another door opening, and heavy steps echoing on the stone floor. The voices stopped abruptly, snapping me back to what was important. I looked around the room. There had to be something I could use against these people. But there was nothing except the bed, so I grabbed the blanket and tiptoed so that I was standing just by the door.

"Harper, go outside." a new person said, with a slightly darker voice than Carer.

"But Z..."

"I said, go outside. I'll be out in a minute." he commanded.

A few seconds later, the door creaked again, and the girl named Harper left. I was still standing by the door, still as a statue, my heart hammering. Waiting.

"Leader Carter." the darker voice greeted.

"Zack Grayson. I haven't seen you in a while." Carter answered.

"It was," Zack said, "But before you say anything more, you should know that the girl is awake."

My breath caught in my throat, my hands suddenly shaking. Carter was no longer leaning against the door.

"And she's listening."

The handle was going down, slowly.

I prepared myself, lifting the blanket...

The wooden door opened and I threw the blanket at whoever was on their way in, momentarily surprising them. Then I practically flew out into the corridor, desperately pushing my weak legs to get me out of there unharmed.

I didn't even make it three steps before someone was grabbing my arm and I was falling onto the hard floor. I looked up at a dark haired boy who seemed only a few years older than myself, if not the same. He gave me a mocking grin and looked me up and down.
