I've been working nonstop for about a year now, so I decided to take a few weeks off. working in a hospital is great, I love being a nurse and taking care of people. even though i adore my job, i need a break. i've saved up enough money to be gone for 3 weeks. I decided to italy for a week, then france and later england. i'm leaving for italy in a few hours, so i began packing. once i got all my clothes to finally fit into my suitcase, i put it in the trunk of my car and drove to the airport.

Toronto is such a beautiful city, i love living here. as i'm driving on the highway, i turn my head and to see the amazing architecture and landscape of Canada. I've lived in Canada my entire life, but i have been on trips before. i'm going alone, not because i don't have friends, i have the worlds most amazing best friend but i prefer going alone. i love the freedom you have when you're alone, i love self reflection and being left alone with my thoughts.

as i stare onto the road, i see my exit, turn right and park my car. i make my way through security and i'm entering the plane. i've never been on a plane before so naturally i was quite nervous. I find my seat, and greet the woman that's sitting before me. i sit down and i start to nervously shake. i turn my head to the woman sitting next to me, as i was about to say something she says "first time on a plane, eh?" i nodded. "there's nothing to be afraid off" she smiled and took her hand in mine. i smiled and thanked her.
as the plane started moving i got butterflies. once we were in the air, i could see canada and all its charm. i could see houses, farms, moving cars, roads and trains. it was so beautiful.

i woke up 10 hours later when the nice lady told me that we landed. i rub my eyes and got up to stretch. i got my suitcase, said goodbye to the nice lady and left the plane. i got into the airport, got my other suitcase that was too big to bring onto the plane. as i look around the airport trying to find my way out i hear a few girls scream. i walk over in their direction to see if they were okay. i saw some security guards and a tall brown haired man. the tall man stopped in front of the girls and signed something and took some pictures. i understood that they weren't in any kind of danger so i made my way out of the airport, and found a taxi.

"*address and hotel*" i said to the nice italian taxi driver. italy was so beautiful. and warm. so many old houses, parks and wow the mountains were so beautiful. i asked the taxi driver which places i should visit while i'm here. "well you should definitely visit the Colosseum" he said in his italian accent. "i will check that out then" i replied to him.

we arrived at my hotel after an hour or so. the nice taxi driver got my suitcases, i paid him. "grazie mille" which means "thank you" i said to him and smiled. i'm familiar with the italian language but i do have a quite small vocabulary. i rolled my suitcases behind me up the stairs of the hotel. i got to the front deck, they gave me the hotel key and i got to my hotel room. my hotel room was bigger than i expected and quite possibly the prettiest hotel room i've ever seen, its also the only one i've ever seen. i went to the bathroom to shower real quick. i did my makeup, and put on an outfit. i packed my bag with a blanket, a book and a water bottle. i didn't spend much time in my hotel room before i left.

i bought a map of the city i was staying in and left to find my way to the Colosseum. the sun was shining and reflecting on my skin. i began walking up the beautiful streets in italy, i cant believe i'm actually here. i kept on walking till made my way to an open space with a park on the left side. i'm lost. i look around to see if theres any signs. there isn't. i walk up to a tall brown haired man. beside him stood two other guys.

" Mi dispiace, posso chiederti una cosa» i said not knowing if he spoke italian or any other language. it means -excuse me, can i ask you something in italian.. he turned around and our eyes meet. it was honestly like the world stood still. he was possibly the most prettiest man i've ever seen. his beautiful brown eyes, i got lost in them. he smiled at me. goddamn, that smile. his smile was breathtaking. he looked so gorgeous. he had kinda long brown curly hair. those beautiful curls.

"oh i'm sorry, i don't speak italian" a voice brought me back from my thoughts. i flinched. "oh well, then you probably don't know which way i'm ought to go?" i said kinda nervously. "i've been here before" he continued. "let me see?" he pointed at the insanely big map i was holding. he came closer to me and i turned the map in his direction. "yeah, you just turn around and go down this street" he said pointing in the direction i came from. "then you just take a left and then a right" i turned my head up towards him and smiled. "i think thats right" he said kinda unsure. "well thank you" i said smiled at him. "no problem" he said. "you know you have google maps on your phone right? you could use that." "i know, but i kinda wanna be able to read maps, which i'm apparently not great at. i also don't really use my phone a lot" i said. he smiled "practice makes perfect" he told me. that made me smile. "it sure does" we said our goodbyes and i followed his instructions.

he was right. i found my way to the Colosseum, and gosh it was amazing. so much history and so many people. like so many people. anxiety is something i've always dealt with, and it sucks. it really does, panic attacks and mental breakdowns suck. vibrations brought my back from my thoughts. i could feel my phone ring in my little belt bag, so i grab my phone and answer.

"hiii!" i hear my best friend say. "oh my god hey" i replied her. "how was the plane ride? are you there yet?" she said "girl i'm telling you, its so pretty here. the plane was fine, a nice lady helped me calm down and stuff. i'm literally standing infront of the Colosseum, its so pretty. "oh wow, i want to comeee" y/b/n said kinda grumpy and sad. "i'll definitely bring you next time, can we talk later cubby?" i say. cubby is her nickname, i call her cubby because i think its cute. it also what baby bears are called and its cute. "yeah yeah okey! be careful and have fun honey" y/b/n replied. "i will, i miss you" "i miss you too! byee" "bye" i finished the conversation and hung up.

i took some pictures of the Colosseum before i put my phone back into my bag. I walked around in some park i found. i laid down the blanket i brought, sat down and just took in all that was around me. the sun was shining and i could feel the warmth on my skin. i took my book out of my bag and read. i guess you could say i'm kinda an old soul. i love reading. i love being present. i love living.
