I slowly opened my eyes and felt the cold september wind tickle my toes from the window. I pushed away my blanket and got up from the bed half asleep to close the window.  I looked out at the streets that were covered with fog and sunrise for awhile and threw myself on top of my bed again. I turned my head to my bedside and checked my clock. 5:30. I remembered the date.

Monday and my first day of school. Great. I realized that my clock would ring in five minutes, so I probably should get up anyway.

I dragged myself to the drawers to fetch some clothes. What’s appropriate to wear on the first day? This was the only day we were allowed to wear our own clothes before we recieved our uniforms. Might aswell choose wisely. I picked out a wine red long sleeved dress with a collar, a pair of black stockings and my brown oxfords. I looked in the mirror, and my god I looked exhausted. I couldn’t really sleep well because I was so nervous. New town, new school, new people… I groomed my eyebrows a bit, put on a brown liner that I winged a bit, a bit of mascara and some lipbalm. I combed my blonde layered hair that goes slightly below my shoulders.

All set.

I went downstairs and saw my mum already awake and making breakfast.

”Morning love!” she said cheerfully.

”Morning mum” I said with my husky morning voice.

”Are you excited for your first day?”

”Very.” I lied.

” Do you want me to follow you to school?” She said while frying the eggs.

”Are you serious? I’m 17 mum. I can follow myself thank you.”

”Alright, be careful when cycling then!”

”Yes mum..”

I ate up my bread with eggs and drank the rest of my coffee.

”Thanks for the breakfast mum. I’m off then.” I said while carrying the plate to the counter.

I pulled out my brown coat and my checkered scarf and slipped on my oxfords.

”Bye then, I’ll be home at four!” I yelled into the living room.

”Good luck honey!” She yelled back.

I opened the door and Instantly felt the cold wind right in my face. My breath turned frosty instantly. Bloody English weather.

I threw myself on my red bike and began cycling down the street. I saw loads of other people looking my age in the streets walking and cycling probably going to the school aswell. Poor people.

When I arrived I locked up my bicycle and began to walk towards the big entrance. I took notice of a group with girls going on about something. There was teddy boys there as well. Damn teddy boys. Nothing but trouble. They were obviously flirting with the girls and it didn’t seem like they minded that at all. Shit, I had to pass them to get in. I slowly walked towards them hiding a bit in my scarf. I felt them looking at me, but I really didn’t want to be seen. I have been like this for years, I mean hiding from people. One of my main goals this year was to get more brave and social and I knew I couldn’t hide forever. I had to do something. I slowly tilted my head a bit up from my scarf and I met two brown eyes of a teddy boy. His hair was curled and greased gently laying on top of his forehead. I turned my look away and walked right past him. Damn teddyboys i repeated in my head.

After a while I found my classrom in the huge hallway. I took took a huge breath and opened the door. Everyone’s eyes were following me while I walked towards the teacher behind the desk.
