Surprised by his sudden act of kissing my hand, I quickly pulled it away while blushing.
"I-Im Laura...Laura Weathersby.." I said shyly.
"Hah! A pretty shy bird isn't she!" John said while punching Paul lightly on the shoulder.
"Nice to meet you Laura." he said holding his gaze upon me. He sounded a bit more serious this time.
He just continued to stare into my eyes. He was quite handsome. His nose was sharp and well-shaped, his lips were sharp too; as well as his eyes. But there was something about his eyes. Something behind him. I realised he was still watching me so I began blushing again and quickly looked down. What is it with these guys? I don't like teddy boys at all, but I couldn't help myself but to think they were very attractive indeed.
I shaked my thoughts off when I heard John mention my name.
"Sorry, what?" I said looking up at him.
"I said, are you coming tonight?" he said, trying to repeat himself.
"To what?"
"The Cavern. There's a band playing tonight, and to start off this school-year almost everyone's going to celebrate. So, you're coming?".
I looked at him and then to Paul. I don't know why I did that. I guess it was because I felt I trusted him a bit more than that other teddyboy standing in front of me brushing his greased hair with his fingers.
Paul nodded and smiled at me.
"Yeah, do you want to Laura?" he said while raising his perfect eyebrows and smiled that adorable smile of his. Ugh, stop it Laura. For the last time; he is just a teddy boy. Nothing but trouble.
Do I want to go? I tried to ask myself. Not really. I've never been there, and the girls snickering about me will probably be there too. But I couldn't come up with an excuse this fast.
"S-sure." was all I could say.
John smiled at me and said it was great that I wanted to tag along. Then he turned to Paul and whispered something. He weren't whispering that quiet, but I still couldn't get what he said. When he was done whispering whatever, he started to grin at Paul. Paul rolled his eyes in return and just laughed at him. I didn't know what they were talking about but it made me uncomfortable. I looked at my watch and noticed I had my last class in 5 minutes.
"I have my last class now so I'll be going now. See you guys later." I said surprised of how calm I sounded.
They didn't have the time to answer me, before I was on my way down the hall to my English class.
When I was finished I were exhausted. Again. I guess I wasn't used to so many people talking to me or shall I say, I wasn't used to talk to a lot of people. And certainly not the popular teddy boy kind. I opened the main door of the building, and when I stepped outside I felt how strong the wind was. It was raining too. I remembered I heard someone say it was going to be a storm soon, but it wasn't supposed to be today. If I knew, I would've taken the bus.
I unlocked my red bicycle and wiped away the raindrops on the seat, leaving the sleeve of my coat wet. I tried to cycle a bit fast while it still wasn't raining. But the rain just had to begin pouring down the moment I thought of it. It began to rain so much I couldn't see anything anymore. Through the water in my face and eyes I saw a shop and decided to enter it for shelter. I quickly put my bicycle against the wall not caring to lock it, and pulled the door of the shop causing a bell over the door to ring. Pushing the wet hair off my face, I saw it was a record-shop. I smiled. Just my luck! The shopkeeper looked up from his glasses and whatever he was doing, and greeted me before he continued with what he was doing. I started to browse through some records and found a Chuck Berry record I've never seen before. I browsed my pocket to check if I had enough money for it. While doing so, I saw a boy standing beside me obviously nicking a record in his coat. I looked up at him and noticed he had the greased teddy boy-hair I now was familiar with, and he had those Buddy Holly-glasses. I thought it was wierd that a teddy boy wore such glasses, but I must admit it was kind of cute. Then I noticed. It had to be John. He had the same hair, nose and lips as him. I didn't see his eyes though. I found the money in my pocket and quickly payed for the record I found. The shopkeeper wrapped it in newspaper and tied it together, I got the spare-money and thanked him. When I turned around the boy whom I was sure was John, was now gone. He probably succeeded in nicking the record. Classic teddy boy.
I shrugged the thoughts off him away, and looked out the window. It stopped raining so hard but it was still blowing. I went out and grabbed my bicycle again, and flew through the streets.
When I got home, I saw someone at the steps in front of our red entrance-door. At first I thought it was mum, but I remembered she wasn't supposed to be home anytime soon anyway. When I got closer I saw who it was.
"Paul? What are you doing here in the rain..?" I said while hopping of my bicycle.
He looked up at me and lit up.
"I um.. forgot to tell you when to come tonight. At the Cavern, I mean." he stuttered, obviously very cold from the terrible weather.
"You must be freezing.. Come inside. I'll make some tea or something." I nervously said.
"Well if you don't mind." he said smiling and grabbing his bag.
