Previously:
Natsu grabbed both of her hands in his and removed them from his face, keeping their joined hands in front of them. Lucy continued to plead. "Why?" She asked in a broken voice.
Natsu reached his limits. "I've started to imprint with you!"
Now:
Lucy's hands left Natsu's as she took a step back. "Imprint?"
Natsu covered his face with his hands. "Yes."
Lucy continued backwards until she found herself plopping down on the couch. She thought about it for a minute. "Dragon slayers imprinting is just a legend." She reasoned to Natsu.
Natsu continued to stand next to the wall, not daring to step any closer to Lucy. One hand was partially blocking his nose from her overwhelming scent. Why is my nose so sensitive? "Yes, well, that's what they all say."
A million questions popped into Lucy's head. "What makes you think that you've imprinted with me?"
"We haven't imprinted fully, it's just the start of an imprint."
"What do you mean?"
"We have to kiss in order to be fully imprinted."
A rosy color washed across Lucy's cheeks. "How do you know that we've started to imprint?"
"For one thing, I can smell you." This time Natsu blushed a bit.
That must be why Natsu has covered his nose before. Lucy was a little curious, "what do I smell like?"
Natsu turned away. "If I had to put it into real things, I'd say vanilla and strawberries, but it's more than that. Your smell is..." Natsu thought of the right word. "...intoxicating. And strong. It's like, every good thing, ever?" That still doesn't come close to how great she smells to me, but I don't want to be creepy.
Lucy didn't think it was creepy at all. It pleased her to know that she had such an effect on him. "Is that how you know you've started to imprint with me?"
Natsu shook his head and looked back at her. "I can also feel your emotions when they're strong enough."
"No you don't." She denied him.
"Trust me. I do. I could feel your, eh hem, desire, earlier," said Natsu and Lucy turned a bright red.
"A-Are you sure it wasn't your own desire?"
Maybe a little. "Before I came earlier, you were really angry." Natsu paused and Lucy looked surprised. "Why were you angry?"
At least he can't read my mind, Lucy thought. Being reminded of why she was angry caused her give Natsu a stern look. "You're taking a date to my birthday ball."
Natsu smirked. "So, it wasn't anger, but jealousy."
"No. It was anger," Lucy claimed, not acknowledging the cocky look on Natsu's face.
"Why were you angry, then?" Natsu teased.
Lucy stood up from the couch and faced Natsu. Her anger was slightly piqued again. Her blonde locks of hair cascaded around her and her brown eyes shone in annoyance. She narrowed her gaze at him and looked him in the eye. "Because I don't want you to look at any girl but me."
She's so beautiful when she's mad, Natsu thought. He swallowed the lump in his throat that felt like his heart. He'd be honest too. "I've never looked at another girl but you. I literally can't. When a dragon slayer has a living mate, no other girl could attract him in the slightest. They don't even smell good to me. It's a part of the imprint."
