From strangers to penguins

I laid in bed listening to music when I heard a knock at my bedroom door. "Yeah?" I called out, and Cayden pushed the door open.

"I brought you coffee. Get dressed, were going on a date." 

"Demanding." I groaned, reaching for the coffee. He pulled away and pointed to the wardrobe, and I stood up. He handed me my coffee and sat on the bed. "Where are we going?"

"Its a surprise." I rolled my eyes.

"Well how am I supposed to know what to wear?" 

"Casual." He told me, and I started digging through my clothes. I found a cute cardigan, and then grabbed jeans and a black tanktop. I turned around to face Cayden.

"Do you mind?" I ask holding up the clothes. 

"Not at all. Go ahead." I rolled my eyes at him again. "Its a crime to want to see my girlfriend naked?" My stomach errupted with butterflies when he called me his girlfriend. I pulled off my shirt and looked at him.

"Technically not naked, I dont have to change my bra or underwear because I did that this morning." He stuck his tongue out at me as I continued changing. I then walked over to my desk and started brushing my hair. I put it in a half bun, found shoes, and then looked in the mirror. Cayden walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waste, looking at me in the mirror. 

"Beautiful." He stated and I blushed, laughing a little. We left the apartment, and walked to his car. The whole time we were driving he wouldn't tell me where we were going and said no to all of my guesses. 

Finally, we pulled into a parking lot, and I saw the aquarium. A huge smile broke out onto my face and I looked at him. "No fucking way." I stated, and he smiled getting out of the car. He opened my door, and we walked into the aquarium as I waited for him to pay. 

"Wow babe, not even gonna argue about me paying." He joked and I rolled my eyes. 

"You asked me on a date therefor you pay." I tell him and he leaned down to kiss me. We walked into the aquarium and my face immediately lit up at the fish all around us. I dragged him to every exhibit, until we got to the penguins. I stood there staring, and he wrapped his arms around my waist resting his head on my shoulder.

"You know penguins mate for life." I looked at him and smiled, not saying anything, and then returned to exploring. When I got to the reptiles, I dropped his hand and ran to look at the snakes, knowing I was acting like a child. As I circled around the exhibit, I saw Cayden look at me with admiration and love in his eyes. 

When we finished walking the whole aquarium, we went to leave and he took me to an ice cream parlor. We both got our icecream, and then started walking down the street, watching at everyone, talking. When we finally got back to the car, we both got in, and spent the majority of the ride in silence. When we finally got to the parking lot, I went to get out but he put his hand on my thigh to stop me and I shut the door looking back at him. 

"Lex, Will you be my penguin?" I laughed and gave him a confused look. "I know that we aren't soulmates, you already found yours, but I also know that I want a forever with you."

"And penguins mate for life." I stated before he could finish talking. He gave me a slight smile, and I let one grow on my face.

"So?" He asked, and I leaned forward kissing him.

"I'll be your penguin." I replied before kissing him again.
