It had been a week since the incident happened and everyone was a little unnerved by Kaito and Saguru's sudden quietness. On normal days, both of them would behave quite cutely with each other, blushing and flirting around but right now...
It was total silence.
Both of them refused to look at each other and neither spoke a single word. Though when asked if the couple broke up, they both had denied it and said they just needed space from each other. Which directly translated as "We fought but we don't want to talk about it."
Saguru went home alone that day, unlike the usual days where Kaito would accompany him home, with his head bowed down, hiding his expression from everyone around him. When he got home, he immediately went to do his homework, not wanting to let his brain think about Kaito even for a second. As soon as he was done, he went to solve the cold cases right after, mind wheeling away further and further from the thoughts of his boyfriend, and before he knew it, it was already nighttime. He then stretched his body from the chair and blinked when all around him was darkness and looked at his clock on the wall.
11:57 p.m., the blond read and scoffed in disbelief.
He was so adamant not to think about Kaito that he had spent his entire evening solving numerous cold cases. He checked his phone to see if there's any messages from Kaito but received none. Only messages from Aoko asking him if he was not coming to KID's heist. Hold on a second. Does today have a heist? Saguru froze, staring blankly at the message before letting out a wry smile. I really was so desperately avoiding Kaito then. Saguru only sighed and replied that he was feeling slightly unwell to attend.
He walked towards the switch on the wall and was about to turn on the lights when a body was pressed against his back so suddenly. He gasped softly at the familiar body pressing against him. Tensed, his heart started beating rapidly underneath his ribcage, already knowing who the person behind him was. "You didn't come to my heist, tantei-san. Why?" the voice whispered lowly in his ear, making him shudder.
"W-When did you get here, KID? And let me go," Saguru mumbled as he evaded the question, trying to push the body away but failed. KID pressed him against the wall even harder. "Answer my questions first, tantei-san. I thought you at least knew some manners," KID taunted and that made Saguru really mad.
Using all the energy that he had left, he shoved the international thief away.
"Manners? My manners?!" he fumed. "You asked me of my manners when you were the one who came here into my house without permission and assault me?! You know what? Fuck this. I cannot stand this anymore and you are truly driving me into full-blown insanity. Get the fuck out of my house, Kuroba, before I call the cops on you regardless of whether you are my boyfriend or not. I do not give a single fuck," Saguru stood there, trembling with fury, not noticing the tears that streamed down his face dropped from his chin to the floor like water drops.
But KID didn't leave.
Instead, he approached the maroon-eyed male slowly, making Saguru backed up against the wall. "My apologies, tantei-san." he said. Saguru looked away from the dark eyes that he knew belonged to his boyfriend. "Leave, Kuroba. Just leave me alone," he pleaded. "You wanted me to trust you the way you trusted me but I kept the secret from you even when you had the right to know." KID started, cupping the other's cheek gently, wiping away those tears that trailed down his cheek with his gloved thumb. The magician thief pulled Saguru towards the bed, sitting down side by side before he launched his entire story about KID's legacy.
"... So that's why only Shin-chan and Hattori knew about it. It was not because that I didn't trust you with my secret. It's because I don't want to lose you like I lost my father. They're trained assassins, tantei-san. If they could make my father's death look like it was an accident, I don't want to know how it would be if I lose you too. Tantei-han and Meitantei had been involved with the FBI and the organisation for so long before they approached me and told me they wanted to help out." KID rubbed his face tiredly. "I'm so sorry that I made it seem like I didn't trust you, Saguru. I just don't want you to be involved."
Saguru bit his lips as he stared at KID to see how genuine his words were before looking away. "Why are you telling me this now?" he asked. The wild-haired male grabbed his chin lightly and turned Saguru's face to look at him. "I missed you so terribly much. It drives me insane when you ignored me in school and didn't talk to me at all. I miss you, Saguru. I missed us. I missed teasing you, flirting with you, holding your hand, kissing you, hugging you against me, staring at you. I miss it all. Then, I went to talk to Shin-chan and he slapped my head real hard on your behalf and called me a dumb boyfriend and said that I should've told you much sooner and that I shouldn't have been scared with your reaction because you're my boyfriend.."
Saguru sighed and covered the gloved hand that was on his cheek, leaning his head on it. "You're lucky I love you. I will forgive you... on one condition," he said. "What is it, sweetheart?" KID blinked. "Only if I can unmask you..." Saguru whispered. KID leaned closer to the detective with an eager look, urging the blond to unmask him quicker, his heart exhilarating in his chest. Saguru smiled fondly, reaching for the hat first, and pulled it off in a slow-motion, revealing the other's messy brown hair that looked like a bird's nest.
He placed the top hat down gently on the bed and traced his fingers around the monocle with a light touch. The phantom thief closed his eyes, hot minty breath hits Saguru's face as he pushed himself closer to the blond. Their nose touched just the slightest bit and Saguru felt the thrill rushing through his veins as he tightened his grip on the monocle just the slightest. The indigo-eyed male raised his hand to rest it on top of Saguru's own hand. With a smile, he kissed the palm and helped Saguru pull the monocle off from his face.
Tilting his head, the half-Brit went to kiss his boyfriend, hands pulling off the glove before unbuttoning Kaito's white blazer.
"Hi, baby," Kaito greeted with a fond smile at the sight of his blushing lover. "Hi, darling," Saguru said and the blush deepened, even more, when the former male slipped his bare warm hands underneath Saguru's shirt, leaving tingles all over the places Kaito touched.
"I have missed you so much."
"I've missed you too."
Pushing Saguru to lay on the bed gently, Kaito raised his shirt up and trailed soft kisses on the smooth and milky skin. "You're mine and mine only.."
Well, you could say... that the rest... was history.
