I walked to algebra class as all the students smiled and waved. I gave them my kindest smile and slipped in. The teacher began the lesson and everything was perfect. I had gotten in. Royal Academy. This was my time. I started talking notes when and I hear a ding sound. Ding. Ding. Ding.

I opened my eyes and felt a sadness deep over me as I realized it was just a dream. I shut off my alarm. My letter was supposed to arrive today. Royal Academy: Where Legacies are Made. Not just anybody got in. I had been waiting months for this letter, this small piece of paper that would decide my future.

I slipped out of bed and drew back the curtains revealing the faint outline of mountains, enchanted by a bright blue sky.

"Spot? Spoooooot?" I say, looking around for my lab puppy. I hear a yelp and Spot springs onto my bed looking way too adorable. I walk out the door motioning for him to follow.

Our castle is huge. Surprisingly not as big as the other kingdoms though. I'm the princess of Andol and I'm 15, just about to start high school. My name is Braelyn and I am know for my piercing turquoise eyes. I don't understand what all the fuss is about.

My hair is a medium brown in the winter but in the summer it gets ambushed by blonde highlights.

The hallway leading down to the steps isn't too bad. I walk down the spiraling stairs, placing my hand on the diamond railings. Talking a left, I turn towards the kitchen. As soon as I step in the chef, Anna, greets me.

"Braelyn! What can I get for you?" Anna is the sweetest person here and definitely my favorite staff member. She acts wayyyy more proper when moms around but with me she's just Anna. And I like that.

"I'll just have...... some Frosted Flakes please, no milk. Thanks Anna" I smile.

Anna nods her head and heads into the kitchen mimicking a soldier as she salutes me. On cue, mom walks in.

"Hi Bray" she says and kissed my head.

"Hi mom, any mail?"

"Not yet, should come later"

I roll my eyes, the mailman always takes forever.

Anna comes out of the kitchen carrying a bowl with a ridiculous amount of Frosted Flakes.

I smile, "Anna are you trying to make me fat?"
I tease her and she smiles. My mom gives me the look.

I clear my throat, "I mean, thank you Chef Anna, you are dismissed." She holds her breathe trying not to laugh as I mime gagging at my mom. My mom is way to old school.

I finished off my Frosted Flakes, feeling very fat, and head to the mail slot. Our mail slot leads into a box and I pop that open. Nothing.

As I head up to my room in disappointment, I think about high school. I would finally get to meet new people.

As I'm halfway up the stairs I hear the door chime and a clunk. I sprint down and slide the box open.

MAIL!!!!

"MOM!!" i screech, "THE MAIL CAME!"

A minute later i hear my mom walking down the hall looking like she would scold me fore yelling if this wasn't so important.

"Well? Open it already Braelyn!"

"Ok ok" i tear the envelope open, throwing my manners out the window. I unfold the letter and read it aloud.                                                          "Miss Braelyn Smith, we regret you form you that.... you have not been accepted in to Royal Academy." I stop and drop the letter as I feel the tears start to form. No. No. How did this happen. My mom cover her hand with her mouth and looks like she just might cry too. "Oh Braelyn," she says, and the tears come.
I run upstairs and shut the door to my room.  This can't be happening.
