"Can you smile for once y/n? This is a dinner service, not a funeral." The governor scolds his daughter from the across the large oak table.
She scoffs in response as she tugs and pulls on her Hanbok that was wrapped rather tightly on her frame. It was uncomfortable to say the least and very ugly with a loud shade of yellow and blues popping out here and there.
No doubt she would much rather be anywhere but here but her father forced her to sit at the dining table while they awaited the arrival of Kang Riyo with his oldest son. Speaking of, they were supposed to arrive an hour ago and sent no word of their tardiness.
Y/n looks to the large grandfather clock and see's that it's close to mid-day. Her legs shake with anxiety as she remembers the conversation she had with Seokjin, the mysterious man she met at the bridge yesterday. Of course when she arrived home yesterday, she never spoke a word about Seokjin. Who would even believe her if she told them he saved her from a group of thugs and apparently has glowing red eyes.
All last night, her thoughts brimmed with questions she wanted to ask. Just who is he? where did he come from? And is he even human? She gulps at the memory of his red glowing eyes. No man alive can do that which makes her wonder of the possibilities that perhaps supernatural creatures are real.
"Mr. Governor, I bring news of Kang Riyo!" Soobin announces as he rushes into the room all flustered and out of breath.
Y/n feels her stomach drop a little and hopes that they weren't going to show up. She really didn't want to go through this whole arranged marriage ordeal.
"What is it Soobin? Did they bring an excuse for their tardiness?" the Governor asks and Soobin nods, giving y/n a small glance as he then clears his throat to speak. "Sir, Mr. Kang wont be joining the dinner service."
Y/n practically leaps for joy but remained seated and silently celebrates as she watches her fathers face burn bright red with fuming anger.
"WHAT!" the governor roars as he slams his fist on the table and rises to his feet. "What is the meaning of this? We made an agreement!"
"I-I understand sir but-"
"Who gave you this ridiculous news!" the governor demands as he slams his fist upon the table once more, shaking the expensive silverware.
"I did." Hoseok's voice cuts through the tension as he enters the room with a graceful smile on his face. "I've received news that Kang Riyo and his son won't be able to join us due to personal reasons." he says, which didn't suppress the Governor's anger at all.
"Personal reasons? What kind of fool do they think I am?!" The governor shouts and pushes his chair back, scraping it against the ground as he flails his arms about and walks out of the room a fuming mess. Soobin looks to y/n and gives her bow before quietly following after the angry governor.
Hoseok turns to y/n, just noticing her presence, and gives her a graceful bow with a wide smile. "It seems the fates are on your side today." he says, earning a scoff from her in response.
Watching Hoseok leave after her father, Y/n takes the open opportunity and goes straight to her room. She changes out of her Hanbok and puts on a more comfortable outfit, this time it was a loose fitting dress and she accommodated it with a long trench coat. She checks herself in the mirror, making sure her hair was neatly braided and her glasses were on straight before grabbing her messenger bag that was filled with books on supernatural creatures and her favorite safari hat. "Alright, let's go Kim y/n." she encourages herself as she sneaks out of her room and down the hall.
She could hear her father ranting and raving about Kang Riyo's absence and silently felt bad for Soobin, knowing he would have to sit and hear it all.
