Feena Lee's POV
I was awoken by the sound of my alarm blaring into my ear. Out of habit, I slammed my hand on it and curled back into my thin cover. A few minutes later it rang again and I sat up and looked at the time.
6:30 a.m.
Thank god I don't have anything thing to do tod- WAIT! I HAVE A JOB!
I bolted up from my bed and ran to my bathroom. I took a 5 minute shower, brushed my teeth, washed my face, and rushed to my closet to pick something out. It took me roughly 15 minutes to get to the office building so I had 3 minutes to get up and out my apartment. On the way out, I grabbed an apple and my purse.
As I got out of the apartment building, I looked around at the crowded sidewalks. It was even more crowded than yesterday's! There was no way I would make it in time if I walked so I had no choice but to take a taxi.
I ran to the closest roadside and called for a taxi. It took about 1 minute for one to finally spot me and pull over. "Where can I take you, Miss?" The sludgy looking man asked.
"Rivera Co. please." I hopped in the back seat not wanting to take a chance sitting beside the creepy man. He grunted in response and drove off. The traffic was horrible.
We stopped multiple times and I realized I only had a few more minutes to get there. I could not get fired on my first day!
Finally, he pulled up to the building and I hopped out not before throwing the man a ten dollar bill. I ran into the building and payed a quick glance to the strict secretary. She was already looking at me with a slight look of surprise before she quickly covered it up and looked back at her magazine.
The elevator opened and went up ever so slowly again. By the time I got out I had less than a minute to run to his office. I took off running and when I finally reached Mr. Rivera's office doors I threw them open.
The bad thing was Mr. Rivera was standing right beside the doors so as soon as I ran in I bumped straight into him.
"What the fu-" He couldn't finish because he soon started to fall down and I followed suit.
We landed with me on top of him and him underneath me.
"M-Mr. Rivera, I-I'm so sorry. I-I was just trying to get here in time a-and I didn't see y-you. I-I'm so sorry. It won't h-happen again, sir. Please forgive m-me!" I rambled on.
Eventually, I gained enough courage to look at his face. He looked a mixture of surprise and angry. Soon after I noticed what position we were in. I quickly jumped up and put my hand out to help him up. He ignored it and stood up himself.
"Mrs. Lee, you were one minute late." He said.
"I-I know, sir and it won't happen again." I wanted to cry.
"I don't give second chances Feena and I'm not starting now."
"S-sir, please. I-I really need this job. I didn't m-mean to be late, I swear." I felt my eyes start to tear up and my bottom lip tremble. I could not cry. I would not cry.
I felt a small amount of wetness on my cheek. Dang!
"Are you crying?" He asked. I quickly took my hand and wiped the traitor tear of my cheek.
"I-I...no s-sir. I'm o-okay." I said looking back up at him. He was so much taller than me and I felt very intimidated.
"Mrs. Lee, since you were in the building at the time your job originally started I am letting this slide. But do not think that I will let something like this happen again. One more slip up and you are gone."
I felt relieved now. So relieved that I wrapped my arms around him before I noticed what I was doing. As soon as I did though I pulled away as if he was burning fire. "Thank you so much sir. I promise you won't regret it." I said hoping he would ignore what I just did.
"You better hope not," he muttered under his breath and walked back towards his desk. "Your first task as my assistant is to supply me with a plain latte every morning. I want it on my desk at 7:05 sharp. You can go get it from the coffee shop on the third floor. You have approximately three minutes starting now." I took a breath of relief and then it registered to me what he said. Three minutes!
I quickly turned around and raced out the door to the elevator. Did he say fourth floor? Or was it the third? I pressed three praying I was correct. Thankfully I was because as soon as I stepped out, I was greeted my a huge food court. I looked around for the coffee shop but could not see it anywhere.
"You look lost." A voice said from behind me. I turned startled by the sudden voice. A man who looked around in his mid 20's stood behind me.
"I-I kind of am. Do you know where the coffee shop is?" I asked
"Oh yea! It's just right over there!" He pointed over somewhere behind me and I saw the big sign saying Caleb's Coffee.
"Thank you so much!" I muttered before running towards the coffee shop.
"Wait!" The man yelled.
I turned back around anxious to leave and get my bosses coffee before he has my head.
"What's you name?" He asked.
"Feena Lee." I told him quickly.
"Feena. That's a beautiful name for a beautiful lady. I hope to see you sometime again soon Mrs. Feena. I'll leave you to your business." My face flushed at his words and I watched as he turned around and walked off. Shaking out of my daze, I quickly ran to the coffee shop and blurted the order to the barista.
"I need one...plain latte, please!"
"Alright, that will be 3.04, ma'am." The barista gave me a false smile. I pulled out my credit card and did the transaction. The woman came back with my coffee.
"If you want to add anything to it feel free to right over there." I nodded and walked over to the table full of sweeteners and creamers. After a second of debating I finally decided to draw a small smiley face in the latte using the milk they had. Mr. Rivera needed some happiness in his life. I put a lid over the cup though so he would not see it.
Very quickly, I power walked back over to the elevator, got in, pressed the top floor, got out and sped walked back to Mr. Rivera office. I opened the door slowly this time making sure I would not run in to anyone and walked over to his desk were he was sitting.
"Here you go." I muttered and nicely sat it on his desk with a big smile.
"Took you long enough." He muttered. Rude, I thought.
"You are now dismisses Mrs. Lee. Your office is the first door on the right." He said with the wave of his hand. I ignored his rudeness and walked out. That is...until I heard the pop of the coffee cup lid come of and Mr. Rivera mutter, "What the hell is this?"
