Mystic Falls High has decided to do a school production of 'Gone with the Wind'. Elena has been chosen to play Scarlet O'Hara and Stefan has been chosen to play Ashley Wilkes. Everyone is excited, especially Damon, 'cause its his favorite book.
Onc...
"I'm very happy for you Elena, I know that you'll do well."
Bonnie and Caroline interjected.
"We got the roles of Belle Whatling and Melanie Hamilton too."
Damon smiled brightly at them.
"Very good to hear. Well Stefan, we better go and audition."
Elena quickly stopped him.
"Wait, Damon you are auditioning too?"
"Why not? I always had a thing for acting."
"But what if they ask if you're a student here?"
He gave her a wink and then she remember his powers.
"Oh yeah."
Damon winked at Elena and went into the room. He walked up and introduce himself to Mrs. Collins colleagues who were Drama and performing arts teachers.
"Hello, I'm here to audition for the part of Rhett Butler."
Damon was about to recite the study scene with Mrs. Collins until he had a change of thought.
"I actually would like to recite this was the leading lady."
He compelled her at that exact moment.
"Oh and for Stefan to be present as well."
Mrs. Collins smiled and asked for Elena to come in. Damon came up to her and smiled.
"I will start the scene with Elena and Stefan, then Damon you will be called."
Elena walked into the room and so did Damon.
Stefan was last on to comply, he detested the sight of his brother and Elena together.
"Stefan, aren't you coming?" She asked.
He regain his attention and walked inside the room with them.
"Okay so let's rehearsal this scene with all three of you together in character."
Stefan and Elena recited the lines from the study scene where Scarlett confessed she was in love with Ashley.
Scarlett (Elena): Why don't you just say it, you coward? You're afraid to marry me. You'd rather live with that silly little fool who can't open her mouth except to say, "yes" and "no" and raise a passle of mealy-mouthed brats just like her!
Ashley (Stefan): You mustn't say things like that about Melanie.
Scarlett: Who are you to tell me I mustn't! You led me on! You made me believe you wanted to marry me!
Ashley: Now, Scarlett be fair. I never at any time...
Scarlett: You did! It's true! You did! I'll hate till I die! I can't think of anything bad enough to call you!
[she slaps him]
Stefan knew he did a good job with reading the part but wished he was portraying Rhett instead. From the corner of his eye he saw his brother watching and the gleam in his eyes just annoyed him even more.
"That was great Stefan! You got the part of Ashley Wilkes." Exclaim one of the teachers.
Elena smiled and Damon applauded.
Stefan walked away. As he did he looked through the corner of his eye again and saw that Damon was secretly smirking.
"Okay now, continue."
Damon stood behind a table for the next scene where Scarlett and Rhett met.
Elena pretended to throw a vase and Damon reappeared from behind the table.
Rhett (Damon): [when Scarlett throws a vase] Has the war started?
Scarlett (Elena): [Rhett has heard Scarlett's and Ashley's fight] and Sir you should have made your presence known
Rhett: In the middle of that beautiful love scene. Now that wouldn't have been very tactful would it?
Scarlett: Oh! You sir are no gentlemen.
Rhett: And you Ms. are no lady.
[She is shocked and hurt]
Rhett: Don't think I hold that against you. Ladies have never held any appeal for me
SCARLETT: First you take a low, common advantage of me, then you insult me!
RHETT: I meant it as a compliment ... and I hope to see more of you when you're free of thespell of the thin-blooded Mr. Wilkes. He doesn't strike me as half good enough for a girl ofyour ... What was it? ... Your passion for living.
SCARLETT: How dare You! You aren't fit to wipe his boots!(she starts to run out of the room in a rage)
RHETT: (laughs and calls after her) And you were going to hate him for the rest of your life!
Mrs. Collins called for time.
Damon compelled the teacher to make Elena leave the room.
"Elena, you can leave now."
Elena left the room puzzled as to why it was so abrupt.
Once the door was closed, Mrs. Collins and the other teachers all applauded.
"Excellent work! You got the part!"
Damon went over and kissed the teacher's hand.
"Thank you."
He gave her a wink then left the room.

Once he was outside he saw that Elena wasn't there and walked over to Stefan and smiled.

That smile on his face was only bad news to Stefan.
